This could be just what we need to make Windows 8 a good desktop operating system, but I do not understand why navigation is so bad.

I would expect the mouse wheel to horizontally scroll through the app list, like on the standard Start screen, but it does not seem to.

Also, keyboard navigation is terrible.  After moving to another search type using the arrow keys, Apps gets highlighted again after I start typing.  Search for the app icons does not seem to work, and there does not seem to be any way to navigate back from the mode where the search types disappear.

I can only assume that these are all bugs, as the design of this start menu replacement does not make any sense to me otherwise.
