WindowBlinds Request to skinners... :)

I don't know how many other people use it (maybe a pool would be cool) and I'm not even sure if this has been brought up before, but one thing I like in a skin is the winamp controls at the bottom. Some users make really awesome skins, but I don't ever really use them once their downloaded because I like to be lazy and use the winamp controls. So I only really use one or two skins that have them on them.

Please, PLEASE, update skins to at least have a "plus" option on your skin to put winamp skins on the bottom of the skin window! This would be very much appreciated and I'm sure other's would appreciate it too!

Thank you for reading and (hopefully) pondering carefully on this!

One of my first WB skins had WinAMP controls.....but none really since...I have the controls accessible in LiteSTEP so I don't need them on the skins as well.
I guess your bigger problem is actually working out which ones do and which don't have them...

yes, yes...but what my concern wasn't finding the one's WITH the controls as it is getting the skins I want to HAVE the controls. (i.e. I don't want an angel food cake with icing, but I want the icing on my devil's food cake, because I hate angel food, and love devil's food!)

Well, you could always use this as an incentive to learn how to skin WB. Modifying an existing skin to add them isn't all that hard.

You'll find spoon_T_Rex that most skinners skin for themselves first. They skin what they like, according to what they use.
I never use any Winamp control, I don't like any plugin on any skin myself. And actually I don't even use Winamp in the first place.
So, it will never cross my mind to put any such plugin on any skin. :/ Sorry.

I love having the winamp controls too so most of mine have them (4 out of the last 5).

Greenreaper gives you good advice. If you want, you can use the control graphics I made for my skin 'SETI green'. They have a transparent background so they'll be easy to apply to any skin. The only ones that would need modification are the volume buttons - just delete the text at the bottom, it's not all on the button graphic. Just put the same pink over the letters.

To add the controls, find a spot where they would fit and add the coordinates to the button's section in the UIS file. You can lift the button sections from my skin also, just make sure to change the total button count to match the number of buttons now in the skin and change the path for the graphics as well as the button number. Be sure to put the WBAmp.dll file in the skin's directory too.

In SETI green the first button you need is [Button19] which is the switch to turn on the controls. Then [Button20] through [Button27] gives you all the controls, just reposition them where you want and make sure the "LinkedTo" line points to the number you assign to Button19. The title is switched on with [Button46] and the title itself is [Button47]. You also need the section called [WBAmp]. You could do all this in notepad and use MSPaint to fix the volume button pink bits.

easy

btw - same thing goes for the clock...

Plus, if you want the controls to be ON all the time, don't use Button 19 and just delete the "LinkedTo" line from each button and change the "Visibility=40" line to "Visibility=1" ("0" if you want them to show on inactive windows too)

Another tip... as long as you have SETI green installed on your machine you don't need to edit the graphics path or copy any of the files over. Just leave the sections as they are and the skin will find the buttons in the other directory. You probably don't need to copy the DLL either, just let it all point to the SETI directory... that makes it even easier...

Ummmmmmm.... I think there should be a booklet or something so one can learn from it. I personally like to play around and find out for myself but.... sometimes it just gets frustrating.... At least have a option of book or play. Not everybody learns the same way. In the mean time, look through Google for instructions.

btw... that would be a nice theme..... mad buttons for windowblinds!! Version 1.0

what's with all this third person talk? That's great that you guys hate the controls--but I wasn't asking to put winamp controls on for those that hate them. I think I'm fairly safe to assume that I'm not the only one using WinAmp.

All I was asking (and I understand that the skinners make their skins for their own personal use and then put them up on the site for anyone else who may enjoy them) is that they put a little time in for those of us who really DON'T understand how to skin and make a sub design that could have the controls on them. I'm not saying "DO IT!!" I'm asking, "Please put them on. The time and effort would be much appreciated." That's all I'm saying.

pjpowell, MadIce--we don't want you hate! We just want you to LOVE!!

Maybe it would be nice to have the option to search for skins with added extras, through a search option. When you up a skin, you check whether it has additions like the clock, ampcontrol,wb menu, all on the upload page. This should be possible to add to the database

Where did the search option go to anyway on V2 ?

spoon: just for your information, MadIce is the guy who made the winamp plugin for Windowblinds.
