Vicious AI

So I just played a game against a random vicious AI. He was vasari (i think rebel) and I was playing as advent rebels. It was a four hour game and I beat him without losing a single planet. The thing is he did NOT build any titans while I eventualy had a lvl 10. Victory conditions were flagship and capital, both of these the AI was not actively defending. After I destroyed his capital I also had to destroy his flagship to win the game for some reason. 

 

Anyone else find the AI to be very buggy and/or bad?

It's been very flaky since the beta.  There's definitely still something messed up with its 'group and attack' code.

At times the AI has played more brilliantly than I've ever seen it in this game. At others it only makes an average challenge, even on cheating difficulties. I have a feeling its tied to AI types or perhaps certain code combinations get it stuck.
