Vorastra: A mobile Homeworld

or: Going the whole mile

I'd like to propose some changes to the Vasari Loyalists' Titan.

It is clear that in terms of battle, be it with or without an aiding fleet, the Vorastra is one of the weaker Titans in the game. This supported and justified by the Loyalist lore and tech, considering the Vorastra more of an administrative ship. Apart from saving the Loyalists from being defeated as long as it stands it does little to support this idea.

The loyalist capital ships are the backbone of the economy and research, while the Titan is little more than a moving planet.

My suggestions:

1. Micro Phase Jump

Get rid of it; it is a nice offensive and defensive tool but does only fully come into play when The Maw is available.

Replace it with a passive to better fit its supportive theme:

A combination of the Overseers Phase Jump Detection and  Jump Degradation , the Phase Jump Inhibition, and the starbases Jump Destabilization.

Let it have  values of, say, 10% per level of Degradation, 50% per level of Inhibition, and 5%/5% per level of Destabilization.

The effects of the ability would be very similar to Micro Phase Jump, only now benefitting your empire(grav well) as a whole rather than only the the Titan.

2. Stabilize Phase Space

I would keep, since it fits rather nicely.

3. Desparation

Only change I could think of at the moment would be remitting damage taken to friendly units in range while increasing movement and weapon speeds, both stacking.

4. The Maw

Let it suck in wreckage also, let it heal hull points similar to Debris Vortex. Generate resources only when hull is full. A greater area of effect and range would be nice. Let it affect strike-craft only.

These changes would still leave the Loyalists with a weak Titan in terms of fighting capability. But it would compliment their playstyle very nicely and add to their mobility.

I agree that the vorastra shouldn't be a support titan not a combat titan like the Ragnarov or eradica. The problem with the vorastra titan is that until it hit level 6 there is no reason to ever bother bringing it to a fight and because of the cap heavy nature of the VL it will never get there. Desperation should lose the splash damage and become a fleet wide buff only the titan would get the dmg reduction though. This makes sense. As the Vorastra takes dmg the fleet will become more desperate to protected making them work harder. This would protect the vorastra as the enemy would want to hold off attacking it until the end giving it a chance to escape if things start getting bad. I also think that micro phase jump should disable all enemy frigates in a small radius of the jump location. Once again this makes sense as if you look the Stilakus Subverter has the same ability on a smaller scale. It would also fit in perfectly with the Maw. Finally a small buff to the cool down rate of spawn phase stabilizer at its earlier Lvs and the vorastra should be on par with the other titans.

making mobile research make your titan literally your capital sounds very intresting. (aka, titan gives you the regular capital bonuses, instead of your capital)...

But. Unless vasari get nerfed way too hard in 1.03, i dont see this happening in the slightest.

Disagreed about the removing a MicroPhase Jump, its a brilliant ability. The only ability, which needs to go, is Desperation - obviously passive = boring. As i suggested many times before, i would like it to be replaced with a planet eating ability - basically as a replacement for current Stripped to the Core tech. This would partially solve the ninja-stripping OPness of Vasari Loyalists and at the same time, give the Titan so much needed oomph.... granted, it would not make it any stronger in combat than in currently is and in general, it would be quite a nerf to Vasari Loyalists. But it would make the Titan the integral part of their gameplay - the same way, Stripped to the Core currently is. Finally, DeathStars are cool after all, amirite?

I really like Desperation. But I agree without a viable active combat ability until level 6 the Vorastra is in a pickle. The problem is both Microphase jump and spawning a phase stabilizer are just too situational and don't have a direct impact on the battle. On its own none of its abilities are bad, but it is hard to make use of all of these abilities together in one package. In other words the Vorastra suffers from a design problem more than anything else.

I am a fan of Desperation as well. As for an active combat ability, why not add an AOE damage effect to Microphase Jump? If the base damage reduction of Desperation is buffed to a more useful level, the two would combine rather nicely I think.

I like desperation as well, also passive abilities are nice, so yeah, I do like the idea of the titan acting as a planet capital though, though I suppose that could be exploited by stationing it near far flung yet resource rich planets to boost their allegiance to the max... and thus get all the benefits, not even the advent with all their culture techs can do that. ;)
