Windows Effects aka Window EFX

What is going on with this program? It would seem that once it is turned on it creats problems with the screen. I get left over outlines of windows and toolboxes. The shadow sometimes stays behind. Is it because I'm using Windows 2000 Profesional?

Everything else is fine. I have many plans for this program. Hopefully in a few years it will become a very big thing. Stock market big. I am hoping to forma business around skinning and programing and there really seams to be a market for it. If they can get this windows efx thing to work than thee will be no contest

EFX caused those problems on every OS I tried it on. I don't think it's even supported by it's developer anymore. (I may be wrong) EFX is an old program, and I don't think it really took off because Window Blinds did the job so much better. Good luck with making a business from EFX, I think you'll need it!

eFX is a very old proggy....dating back to the beginnings of Windowblinds....I did a skin for it in '97 or '98... and it hasn't been developed at all since to any degree.

Certainly a lot of OS versions have come and gone since....98SE, ME, 2K, XP, to name a few....

If you're referring to WindowFX (eFX is a different program altogether), I've not had the problems you mention. It's probably worth posting a little more info such as your graphics card and driver version, which will give the developers a little more to go on. You can also try posting on nntp://news.stardock.com

Good Luck,

AJ

Well, if you're talking about WindowFX, then indeed it Always caused problems to my computer on any OS I've tried. Major performance hit, especially the shadow and the transparency.

Sorry Paxx, time to get a real video card then.

Download XPBench (www.xpbench.com) and see how your card rates.

My video card is good enough. It does what I want it to do.
My XPBench results are the following:

Card: Matrox Marvel G450 eTV
CPU Man: GenuineIntel
Mem: 47
OS: XP
Driver: 5.12.1.1200
CPU ID: x86 Family 15 Model 0 Stepping 7
Ver: 103
AlphaTest: 19
Mode: 1152 x 864 x 32 bits (85 Hz)
Multi CPU: False
Alpha: True
TwoDTest: N/A
Date: 3/26/2002
CPU: 1495
PerPixel: False
Over All: 19

Is that bad? Never had a prblem before, except WinFX indeeds slows it down.

I don't get it. When I go through all the results and look at my card (Matrox G400 DualHead MAX), I see nearly identical results with way different ratings.

How am I to read those ratings anyway? Scale of one to hundred or so?
