Adding shortcuts sometimes do not work. Is there a workaround

I followed your advise on how to easily add shortcuts.

Just drag it from the start menu and place it in ObjectDock Plus. Voila! It works. Usually.

I have a screensaver I would like to add. I drag it as usual, the icon does not show up so I know something is wrong.

And yes it does not work. I created a shortcut on my desktop. It works fine, even the icon shows up.

I dragged the shortcut to ObjectDock but it does not work. I am using the new version 2

Maybe because it is in the system32 directory

Target: C:\Windows\System32\MarineAquarium3.scr

Start in:C:\Windows\System32.

Any advise would help Thank you.

Move/copy the .scr file to a different folder, and try from there.

...  if then you deleted the shortcut on the desktop try this :

first right click on an empty area on the dock and click on Settings

in the Settings Dialog click on "Settings" (near Home) then click on "Advanced Tweaks" and check "When a shortcut is added to a dock, point to the target not the shortcut."

now you can drag & drop the desktop shortcuts on your dock  and only then delete the shortcut !

  hope this helps !;)

Is this a 64-bit version of Windows, by chance?

I still have my XP Pro 64 bit. Ran like a charm.

There was one suggestion that I would have said already, and is the easiest. That is to copy (or move) the file outside of Windows directories. There is a feature that prevents programs from being run "externally" to keep from running a malicious one. Using this format might work C:\Windows\Sysnative\MarineAquarium3.scr It worked for a shortcut I wanted that would not run from the System32 directory. Mine was an exe file, but perhaps it would work with scr.

I am nearly certain that the problem is the location of the file, not the dock.
