[0.915] Arming golems?

The golem descriptive text [an iron golem can wield any weapon given to it] implies you can change out their equipment (sword and shield), but I'm unable to trade with them, shop for them or upgrade weaponry. Has anyone figured it out, or is the text misleading?

I suppose it's a little misleading, but then again, until .915, there weren't any units that could be equipped with items after they were created.  In any case, the only trained units intended to gain/trade items after creation are henchmen, an Altar-specific unit that requires Heroics.

I think for the golem is just means you can customize their equipment when you design them, not that you can swap them after creation.

Yes, they work as armies, not as heroes.
