Sovereign outpost trap

Having to order AI units out of your territory every turn quickly becomes tedious, but the AI units are persistent and eventually I will forget one busy turn and they get through (side note: I think they should be ordered back the way they came not flipped to the side they were heading for if they get deep enough in).  You can try and build more outposts to fill in the gaps and cover all the bonuses and fertile land to deter AI units from your lands but resources are tight at the start and you can't cover everything so eventually one gets through.  This happened in my last game and Magnar built an outpost over a clay resource between two of my cities with mountains on one side and sea on the other forming a corridor.  However, I was able to use this to trap the AI sovereign as he moved through my lands, ordering him out of my lands moved to this isolated outpost each time he moved.  The AI sovereign could no longer adventure and nor did he declare war on me to get out, so was stuck in limbo for the rest of the game and effectively neutralized.

Of course I knew where he was to order back each turn which saved time, but it would be great if we could get a warning every time a foreign unit crosses our lands rather than have to scroll around looking for them manually each turn, unless this can be automated?

The ability to analyze and adjust every detail of their empire every turn is the AI's main strength. Humans don't have the patience for this which, I'm sure, makes it a lot easier to design a challenging AI! For the human player, you need enough automation so the micro management doesn't become frustrating but, not so much that the game becomes boring. No doubt the developers will be using the Beta process to dial in the sweet spot.

I persoanlly like micro-managing so there should at least be an option.

I think there is a difference  between micro-managing and penalizing players for not paying attention to the map, when the enemy is standing right next to your town there is no notice of it, and if you dont look at your towns you will be attacked, this will be no problem if you have 3-4 towns, but later on when you have 7-8 and the highmovement compared to the small borders of towns I pretty much have to scan half my large map every turn for enemy movement....

There really should be a diplo feature to auto-automatically boot all AI players from your lands. Maybe it would have negative consequences, but since the comp does it all the time it probably shouldn't.

Trapping units via invader boot messages seems like a design bug. A pretty useful one esp with archane monilith giving you the ability to do it almost anywhere for a price.

Not quite sure how to fix it though. Maybe there should be a travel to city I own option that ignores territory booting.

@ ballack Yes, options should be part of the game set up.  Distant worlds has a massive set of 'automate' options.  Any complicated, larege scale gsame shoukd allow (warning, here comes my favorite word in gaming) "customization."  YThe player /user should have lots of options about how things appear, what automatin features/tools are active, and even, depending on the item, scales / stage of automation.just my 2 cents....
