AJCrowley's Rules of The Scene

This is supposed to be amusing and satirical, if this sort of thing upsets you, please don't let this sort of thing upset you.

1) The scene is created by artists and developers, and only artists and developers. If you have been downloading other peoples' skins and using their applications for years, being disagreeable on message boards does not make you "part of The Scene".

2) The scene is targetted towards artists and developers, not people who "contribute" to the scene by being disagreeable on messageboards.

3) Developers who work as part of The Scene must provide their works free of charge. We don't care how hungry you are, now get back to work and make me some more apps.

I ran out of steam at around this point, anyone care to add some more rules to The Scene?

Let me offer one from my days as a starving actor:
Art should be obscure and misunderstood. Anything that is actually liked by people is commercial and should be dismissed.

This a variant on the Groucho Marx principle that states: "I would never belong to any club that would have me as a member."

4) If an author chooses to ask for financial compensation to pay for their expenses, they are a sell out and should be ostracized.

5) "Art" shall be determined purely by a small group that hangs out on IRC. This group shall not be made up of people who actually create it, however.

6) Nothing is impossible for the person who doesn't have to do it themselves.

7) Not speaking up early just makes your later arguments stronger. Especially if you use CAPS. Cause that convinces everyone.

8) "Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away..."

I would go on, but someone else should tick it over to double-digits.

11) Free speech means the unlimited right to say anything anywhere at anytime.

12) Property rights must be abolished.

13) Developers who work hard on a product and refuse to give out their source so that people can reuse their source code in commercial applications whilst bitching about the original developer who once tried to charge for an application, which makes them a sell out, shall be ostracized in public message boards with regularity.

14) The desire to be able to provide for your family while at the same time doing something you love is to be looked down upon, for no one should be able to enjoy their job, consarnit!

15) Commercial developers have no place in the "scene." The "scene" is for l337 hax0r5 who are incapable of seeing a project through to completion, but who nevertheless benefit from the existence of commercial apps, like, say, their OS.

16) or so...
There is no longer a community. Since everyone's grouchy, we're calling it a "scene". All members of the secne are expected to pick up on this and use it as if it was always that way.

17) Webmasters are to set an example for less L337 users by being trolls in their own forums.

18) Users that use lame ISPs like AOL, and still think that Windows ME is a good OS are to be looked down upon. We were always this L337, and never had to "learn as we went along".

20) Windows ME is a bad OS and anyone who disagrees with me is absolutely correct, because I know everything and I am wrong, as are the rest of us, except those who are always right, but this is only an opinion fuelled by doubt and uncertainty, but I could be right, or maybe not.....it's hard to tell...

21) If someone disagrees with you, they should be pigeon-holed into a specific "group". This "group" should then be given a condascending name. You are then free to insult all members of this "group" - without giving relevance to any facts. If other members of this "group" react, all members of opposing "groups" are then obliged to ridicule said "group" - preferably with sarcasm. This whole process should be repeated until the whole "scene" is split into opposing "groups" who will eventually get sick of it all and find something else to do. This will render all other rules null and void, as there will be no "scene" to regulate.

22) if you ever discover that craeonics (or any other rule maker) is wrong, then you are obviously delusional and in denail of the facts, so should be ostisised.

23) if someone posts something you disagree with away from your nest, you should return to your nest and mock that person at great length with other people who think just like you do.

also testing to see if I can post.

25. Nests should be abolishes and a community ( I'm beginning to really hate that word) message board should exist. One that is moderated by a neutral ( I know near Impossible) party who is only there to keep the peace ( ie. attacks of charecter, slander, users asking for wares versions of commercial products( not just stardocks), etc....). So as to clear up the returning to your "nest" and mocking people with those who think as you do and having to travel a dozen sites to get the real story?

By the way wasn't this all supposed to be fun? If things don't stop soon we'll be having to elect officaly and stuff, that will be the point where I get off the train....
