Report / Bug? : TEC (Any) Mine Spam.

Tec Mine Capping Gravity-Well Limit

This applies to Beta 1 - TEC (Rebels & Loyalists) Hitting Mine Cap's on Every Gravity-Well.

I'v currently played around 5 games, spending around 12-14 hours in Rebellion. In short, it's amazing, it needs patching up in places such as moving a fleet with the Titan, Colony Ships not Auto Capping planets even when enabled.

But i'v run into a possible bug that's annoying the hell out of me, it just takes the 10-20 minutes of you building a 'standard' fleet with a mix of Capital ships, Frigates ect pointless.

Example: Yesturday i was playing Co'op 2v2 Multiplayer with a friend, 1 Star - 40 Planets, after a good 3 hour sesh of getting our self set economy wise, we set out on the offensive, any on every single planet our enemy captured there was 150 (Cap) Mines, it's ridiculous, why is the AI spamming mines randomly, scattered across their systems, it made my Frigates & Capital ships useless, even my Titan got the sh*t beat out of it by stationary mines.

You might ask 'Why not move around them?', "Scattered", Randomly placed all over the shop, you can't dodge them, i ended up mashing the Build Scout button to suicide them into the mines, even then, their ships just began to rebuild the ruddy mines.. We ended up calling it after both our fleets got competely owned by Mines that seemed to have splash damage and just downed a fleet of 400-500 ships.

I would recommend changing this, as a suggestion, make the AI build mines in a steady formation, say 20x2 across where you warp into the system, it would make sense, along side that, increase the cost of building these things, 150 mines is a system should cost you a truck load, 150.. 150! it's too much, i ran into this in Trinity and it forced me to set the AI to either Vasari or Advent.

Thanks for reading and i'd love to see some more imput on this topic.

If the mines were in a predictable pattern, and where easily maneuvered around, they would not be very useful, now would they?

I am not trying to come off as rude, but those mines are doing what they are built to do - destroy ships.

Sigh, Scouts and flak frigates (to destroy the mines without suicide). This helps a lot in keeping your fleet alive. But yes, some AIs (defensive I think) get a little overboard.

One scout and your fleet parked at the edge of a gravwell is all needed to kill a minefield. Set the fleet to zero movement autonomy and have the scout go close to the mines. the rest solves itself either by the guns of your ships or by your fightersquads. Takes about 90 seconds to completely clean a gravwell. If the enemy has tactical structures guarding you clean a path to them, retreat your scout and go in with your fleet, kill tacticals and start over with the mines.

If I'm in a rush to take the planet I clean the path with one or two caps, each protected by a Dunov. Whenever they lose their shields the dunovs refuel them, rinse and repeat.

Edit:

Incase you didn't realize from my post and the previous ones: Scouts can uncloak mines, enabling your regular ships to kill them. They can also kill them themselves, but that takes forever.

Yeah, i've seen the AI spam mines too, but to me it seems it builds them around it's structures, which means you can jump to the planet safely.

So the way i deal with this spam is: scout the planet before attacking, find a safe landing spot, set fleets to "hold position" and bring in a Titan with a scout. Just order the Titan to move to a position trough the mines and manually control a scout to move with it, the Titan's weapon banks clear mines without damage. I also have a "Carrier group" fleet (consisting of a Carrier capital and several carrier cruisers) that provides strikecraft support during these operations, and if i don't have a Titan they will be the ones destroying the mines. If i can't be bothered, i just run a Titan or a Capital ship trough the minefield, they have enough health to survive several explosions.
