Windows side-by-side resizing nightmare!!

RESOLVED !! Thank-you Rosco !!

I wasn't sure where to post this since it isn't a Stardock or Wincustomize problem, it's my PC or monitor or Windows ?? I really don't know. Here's the deal.....when you bump a window to the left or right side of your screen it automatically resizes to 50% so you can have 2 windows open neatly side by side. I'm sure everyone knows that, but I just wanted to reiterate. When I bump to the left side of my screen, everything is fine, the window resizes like it should, but when I toss a window over to the right side for a bump, it keeps going !!!! and going !!! and going ....and gone ! I cant'get it back and I can't close it without logging off. YIKES !!! I'm at a loss here. It happened before I even re-installed any Stardock apps. after my windows re-install and was happening before I even did the re-install. The first time I thought it was collateral damage from a malware attack , but even on a clean install it does it. Apparently, I have come to discover that this is probably why I have lost the scroll "right" function on a few of my games as well. I can move to the right in my games using the "right" arrow on my keyboard, but I can't automatically scroll right by moving the mouse pointer to the edge of the right hand screen , and here's the clincher, when I move the mouse pointer over to the right side of my screen it will actually keep going and disappear somewhere way off to the right. When this happens in a game that I'm playing, if I click the mouse button while the pointer is disappeared off to the right, the game window automatically minimizes down to the taskbar and there I am looking at my desktop screen. HOLY COW !!! what is going on here !! Is there a Doctor in the house ??

o.k....well I've narrowed the problem down to my DVI input, when I changed to the VGA input the problem went away and all was normal. Only problem is that VGA doesn't give you High-Def. I tried the DVI on 2 seperate video cards and got the same result, so...it's obviously not a card issue. I'm thinkin' maybe somethings fried on the Motherboard, but I'm just guessing here.

It almost sounds like your computer thinks there's a second monitor attached.  Any reason it might think that?  Check your 'Screen Resolution' settings to make sure there's nothing weird going on there.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back here , I was up all night trying to fix this issue. I agree with you Rosco ,as I was thinking the same thing as well. I'm going to try a few experiments here and try to post back here in a little while.

I had a similar issue a while back when I had mt TV hooked up by HDMI.  Forgot it was hooked up, so when it was off, I was confused as to why some programs weren't showing up.  Did a facepalm when I figured it out.

:sun:  Problem is Fixed !!! Thank-you so very much Rosco. I got to thinking more and more about what you said. Why would my system think I had 2 monitors even though it is setup for only one ? Here's the reason: I have 2 high-end video cards in my rig. According to a tech website, you can assign one of your unused cards as a dedicated GPU for PhysX rendering in games.....so I did this. It turns out that Win7 see's this as a second monitor in use even though the settings don't indicate this. As soon as I removed the 2nd card the settings in the Nvidia control panel reverted back to default and the problem disappeared YIPEE !!! I wish I had talked to you last night, maybe I would have gotten some sleep !! LOL !! Thank-you so much for responding and getting me oriented in the right direction....you are AWSOME !!! 5* 5*
