Novalith Cannon vs. Capital Win

Tried playing with the Capital Win victory condition.  The Novalith cannon makes this a bad win condition.

Doesn't matter how powerful the empire is, just build a couple Novalith cannons and zap his home world.  Game over.

I suggest that with the Capital Win option, novaliths are disabled or something.

Starbase with the bombardment upgrade in the gravity well negates this almost entirely.

Nope.

AI is a retard and will quit even if they have a starbase protecting sov.

AI in general is retarded about upgrading starbases, is there no priority set?

My experience was that even with Enforced Loyalty or whatever it's called, enough Novalith blasts still kill the planet :(

I had an AI novalith my moon with 2500 hp. After impact, it had 0 hp but was still mine because i had a starbase (well, 2 actually...) with enforced loyalty thingy. So, I'm pretty sure just having one at your homeworld will stop this, which imo, if you are playing with capital world victory on, you should probably have a starbase there anyway....seige ship rush by vasari superweapon would pwn too heh. And, although it isnt playable yet, that could be game breaking because you and your allies if you made phase pact could warp in entire fleets to their homeworld.....your allies being able to breing anti starbase whips and you could all be constructing starbases there/bring in titans.

Yeah, maybe outlawing superweapons would be best for capital world victory condition games.

I think they should just change the condition so that you need to colonize the home planet to win, rather then just bombard the heck out of it.

novaliths vs homeworlds is a bug atm i think,

Well in general a super weapon on / off would be nice. I'd like to see a competition mode where you can only have a single super weapon as well. Another suggestion would be to hold a certain percentage of homeworlds to win.

well, orbital shield structure is become somehow very good against novalith...

he is clearly just insane, i've seen as many as yes, *gasp* 45 novaliths hit one planet with enforced loyalty.  it doens't go down.  it's safe to say he was doing it wrong.

I have thrown novas at my hw, and i am not losing to a capital victory loss, but that was single player. Has anyone verified that this bug is still in existance in the most recent patch?

I played cap + flagship yesterday. 3 AI were hitting my home world constantly with novalith shots. I was using aux gov + planetary shield. It hit 0 twice and I didn't lose, I think you should have to have active sight of a planet to fire a super weapon.
