Suites and Spyware? Help!

Could someone please help me with a concern. Im very new with all these programs and usualy stick to suites I purchase from Stardock. I have never had a problem with my computer until I downloaded a particular suite. Now I have all sorts of things trying to run my computer, spyware, and the first time ever my antivirus has picked up 7 problem items. Could this be from the suite I downloaded? I use my computer for limited things and do not download anything "except the new suite". Im concerned about downloading future suites, and is there anyway of knowing the suites Im DL are full of unwanted things? Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully help. "T"

It's highly unlikely that anything on this site contains spyware. WHich suite are you referring to? I'll check it out.

The suite was Frosted. Like I said Ive never had any problems with this thing until I put it on here. I quickly removed and deleted everything having to do with Frosted and havnt a problem since. I dont want to be worried about DL new things.

Frosted is a suite uploaded by elvee, that links to skins by starone, both very trustable people.

Have you ever download a suite that didn't contain the skins, but only linked to them as this one does? You can tell the difference by the file size........ a suite that links to skins will only, will be 1k, and a suite that contains the skins will be large. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking that when you loaded the suite, and ThemeManager started downloading the skins, your AV saw this as spyware making unathorized connections.

Ive used two suites, ying yang and one I bought from Stardock. I hate to sound like a nubie but what is AV? The way you describe it, this could be the problem. And what can I do in the future to get these things to run right? Thank you for taking the time to help me."T"

AV = anti-virus program.

I can't a suite named ying yang, so I don't know which type it is. The one you purchased from Stardock most likely contained all the skin files. As far 'getting things to run right', we'll need to know what AV program you're using.

Norton 2004 came up with threats called Adware.Look2Me and files called install007. I also use Spybot. I do not use IE and a lot of things Spybot picked up were IE related.

Hopefully someone will come along that knows more about Norton, and ThemeManager than I do, but I have no idea why those things would show up using that suite.

I have used Norton and Theme Manager together for a while now, but I never got any warnings from Norton.
I think that this is just a coincidence and that you got the Spyware somewhere else. Adware and Look2Me sounds like the type of spyware you can catch on a lot of innocent looking Web-pages (not on Wincustomize though).
