You can download the patch without installing it. Finish your testing in .77 if you wish, and install .85 ( or probably .86 by later today) when you're ready to begin the current testing phase.
I dont believe it's possible to install two different versions of the game. You would have to re-install and re-patch to the desired version to roll back.
