Reminder: Rapture and Radiances

Just because you saw Radiance battleships supported by a rapture battle-cruiser in the rebellion trailer does not mean you should go off and start building that combination of caps. Theres no mistake a Rapture is a superb support capital ship and one of them does wonders for everyone of those radiance in terms of damage reduction.

Radiance's have low hull points so die easily without more defensive abilities. Unless they have some insane buffs otherwise:

it more scary to see Halcyons jump in with 1 rapture as support.

-long range (covered)

-fighter/bomber defense  (covered)

-damage output increase fleet-wide (covered)

-damage reduction from enemy frigates and fighters (covered)

-damage output increased for bombers/fighters (covered)

-damage retaliation from vengeance for friendly capital ships, frigates and structures (covered)

-domination to steal overseers and hoshikos (covered)

All you need is a mother ship on top of that for shield regeneration and malice.

Yet having numerous halcyons allow you to focus or spread your attack out with far more control.  Having a halcyon bombing behind enemy lines is a good distraction tactic and is really annoying to counter because it has enough firepower by itself to thin out a small non flak spam.  I've found that this is usually way more effective in multiplayer then having either of these two ships.

I would like to say that the additional abilities capital ships will be getting in Rebellion may influence capital ship choices. Bomber/fighter spam is also supposed to be less desirable, but for reasons unknown.

I do not want to rule out the rise of battleships as the premium capital ship for combat. I would actually prefer it because that is their role. That said, Halcyons are powerful support ships in addition to being carriers, so they will be hard to replace, as you pointed out Riddle.

Good point, but we will see in Rebellion

Who knows when Rebellion comes around if the Kol and the Radiance might actually be worth using more.

hopefully, they'll buff the radiance's energy absorption ability so she's more durable; and we'll be able to take that ability to level 4 so we'll see what that does as well.  the battleships do need some love.

easy enough to buff, in addition to the armor buff you add 200 hp and 10% hull self repair.  I might just build one for kicks(with this buff) to see how long it will take to die against a lrm spam in multiplayer.  It still won't do much.

They should just give the animosity ability an extra buff where the dps it absorbs also significantly increases the radiance's experience points. That way it will level up faster and get stronger faster than any other capital ship.

Or make it so that it absorbs XX% of damage as health/shields while Animosity is active.

That is a great idea!  at least it would help you keep pace with enemy capital levelling speeds when you start losing illuminators feeding the enemy a crazy amount of experience.
