[Suggestion] New hero ability: Scouting

Right now you can click on any enemy army or city and know the composition of forces. I suggest providing only partial or no information to stock characters, based on the distance between the enemy you're looking at and your nearest character (so the closer your forces are, the more you know about your enemies, and then providing a scouting ability that lets you know more about enemy army composition. This ability could perhaps be bundled together with the ability that gives increased strategic map sight range.

I think this is a good idea. The Total War games already do this. You may get a rough idea of the size of an enemy army, but you need to scout them out to get details. This would add an extra layer of interesting strategy to the game. Of course, making it matter to the AI is a big deal, as is giving the AI the ability to use it.

IMHO this would be a large commitment to changing the core game. It would just take too much time to properly implement and would only be a small gain in immersion.

I think scouts are better as trained units. they need to be able to move alot. Giving a hero a ton of move points is going to make heroes too powerful. Better to have a specialized trained unit for that.

@Sean: I've no objection to the scouting ability being available as a trait of normal units as well.

I don't know about how complicated such an idea would be to implement. I see my role as a beta tester to brainstorm with the knowledge that many or most of my ideas will be ignored for one reason or another.

I actually would love to have no information about an enemy city unless there is an espionage mechanic of some sort. Since I can be sure that won't happen for FE, I would rather have no info at all. I think being able to see everything in an enemy city is a product of still being in the early beta. We kind of need to see what is gooing on with the AI.

that would be awesome if you could spend capitol resources to hire spy's thus allowing you to see what the enemy is doing and then you could pay to have buildings sabotaged
