Start Menu Skinning Issue

I have an issue where Every skin loaded skins everything properly except the start menu. The highlight and mouseover effects work but the framing and custom graphics just dont appear. The start button itself is skinned as is the taskbar. Its a windows vista OS and version 7.3 of windowblinds. Any thoughts?

Did it work before or is this a new install?  Have you installed any other skinning apps?

Open WB config and go to About WindowBlinds and copy and paste the info here.

Never worked as this is the first time I've ever used an os mod of anykind.

To illustrate I selected a fairly graphic skin "fearamone." The inserted exaple screen capture is only hosted for 24hrs.

Looks to me like you have your start menu set to load as classic somehow. Go into the start menu properties and check to be sure.

I thought the same.....but couldn't find a setting anywhere. But then again, I'm on W7 not Vista.

Ive double checked. All of the Windowblinds settings are default.

We're thinking that it may be some setting in Windows itself, not windowblinds.

Windows 7 has a "classic" theme setting....is there something like that in Vista?

Can you apply aero?

If not then try to re evaluate your Windows Experience Index base score.

Its my understanding that "aero" is the defualt vista theme. I can apply this with no issues that I can see. And im not certain how to re evaluate the WEI base score.

After installing the trial edition, did you reboot?

Is it possible to uninstall and reinstall the trial version without corrupting the timer? I dont want to uninstall only for it to not let me reinstall as it might think ive ran the trials time out.

Don't do that! There is no way to do that without goofing things up badly. It might end your trial.

Is anything interrupting the boot order on your computer, or do you have a lot of programs starting at the same time?

Also, could you run cmd as an Administrator? To get to cmd, just type it in the search box on the start menu then right click it and choose "Run as Administrator".

Then, type in  sfc /scannow  this is to restore any Windows system files that may have been corrupted, and if it repairs files, allow it to finish, close it and restart. If no corrupt files are repaired ("No integrity violations found"), and this doesn't fix it, please write to support@stardock.com , include the url of this thread, and save the autoreply that you'll receive. Then, please wait until you hear back from an actual Support person before writing again (or your "help!" will be kicked to the end of the queue).

Will do.. And yes thats what I thought as well as far as the trial being ruined. I will follow these instructions and post any final results.

That seems kinda low. It wouldn't hurt to see if there are any updates to your graphics drivers. If there are any, get them and then run your Windows Experience score again.

To check and update your score go to Control Panel/System and Maintenance/System/Check Your Computers Experience Index Base Score. You will see on the middle right of that page "update my score". Click that and wait until it finishes. Hopefully that will improve your score.

Not a bad idea. I was looking at that too, Xiandi. Wanted to make sure the System Files were ok before tackling drivers, etc. EZRIDER2001 could always plug in a USB to use to speed things up a bit, also I think maybe that only works with W7. Not sure)...

I dual boot Win764/Vista 32. Give me a minute to change OS's. Hang in there.

To elaborate further:

Right-click on the Start Menu and select properties.  Make sure in the Start menu tab that the first button is marked, not the second one ,which will use the Classic start menu.

Apparently, this option is no longer available in Win7 .

Uninstalling and installing will not reset the trial timer.

I'd try that.
