Cities randomly disappearing?

ok so im playing along just exploring with my sov and the turn after i kill something (i think it was a lair) my founding city just disappears leaving me with just the units that were inside and nothing else, ok? is this a bug or is my town getting nuked by some kind of spell a faction i have not even met yet is throwing at me?

this has happened twice so far in the same game and its getting annoying

 

Also how can i cancel a spell once i select it in tactical battle

Does this happen only when the monster is close to the city?  Because I had a game where I'd cleared all monsters and spawning points from a long peninsula, built a city there, and then quite a few moves later, after moving my sovereign back up the peninsula and battling some monsters, I noticed that the city had disappeared.

I've had this happin once as well. Was it your first city? Mine was also clear of encounters. Reloaded game and it went through fine without the city going away. It's an odd bug.

Also had this happen with first city on several occasions. It seems to be related to killing mobs, so just go around not attacking anything ;P

I saw this happen to an AI city as well.  Though I guess the AI could have Razed his own city for no reason.

It's been doing this constantly in the game I'm playing. (Still the same one from the save above) It's always my first city, and the proximity of the battle doesn't seem to have any bearing on it. Fighting battles in different orders prevents the city from vanishing, but once you find a battle that does it, it's consistent every time you fight that battle even after a reload.

Same thing here, fertility goes away on the tile where my city dissapeared.

I've had this problem as well.  Usually after killing off some monster stack is when this triggers.

Well I didn't experience "real" city disappearing but noticed temporary disappearing of city center and quest locations. Just a graphics glitch.

I had this happen to me too.  It's very frustrating.
