IconPackager 2.50h.087 is driving me CRAZY!

I've used IP for a while now but a few weeks ago it began exhibiting some persistent and annoying problems.

It all began when I changed the icon of one program. Ever since then, whenever I apply icons with IP Explorer crashes. I changed the program's icon back to its default internal icon. Explorer crashing continues. But wait. The show's not over...

Now the icon size preference in IP keeps fluxuating at weird sizes. None of which I have any interest and which deform most of my desktop's icons grotequely. I continually have to reset the icon size in BOTH IP and Display Properties back to the default 32 pixels.

It doesn't seem to matter how many times I reset the icon size back to 32 pixels in IP and "apply". Whenever I load IP back up, the icon size has changed to 33, 34, 35... Anything but my prefered 32 pixels. Arrrghh! But wait. There's another act to this play...

IP refuses to restore Windows' default icons. Things like movie file icons, picture file icons and IE url files and html files either will not change from the last icon package used or get set to a "blank" icon. I have to go in and edit the file icons in IP manually every @#$% time just to get my "default" Windows icons back.

I like IP. I like changing my icons once-in-a-while but not if I'm going to have to spend an hour getting them right. I thought IP was supposed to make it quick 'n' easy.

I have a more-or-less average system. WindowsXP Pro SP1 on a Pentium 4 with plenty of RAM and nothing really funny software-wise going on other than ObjectDesktop.

Has anybody had similar issues with IP? Is there a solution? I've tried everything. Rebuilding icon caches. Repairing icon images. Uninstalling IP, rebooting then reinstalling it. I'm going mad, you see. MAD MAD MAD!

MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

Help me please and thank you.

The only problem in your list I have seen and am still having trouble with is it not changing all the icons from the last theme used. There are some it leaves even if the new theme you switch to has an icon for it. It is weird, to say the least and sometimes very annoying.

Perhaps you should try rolling back to a non-beta. Worth a shot I woud think.

It's not a beta. That's the latest "shipping" version of IP on SD.

Doesnt that signify a beta?

According to Stardock Central, it's not a beta. That's all I can say. I don't have, never did have and never will have "Show pre-release versions" checked. Beta testing is not my cup-o-tea.

I thought so too Cerebro, but empty man is correct. It's listed as a release version. Stardock continually befuddles me with their numbering schemes.
