Damned if you do - Damned if you don't.

Wow. What a positive community to be involved with! -- that's sarcasm for those wondering.

So let's see just this week (and it's only Wednesday) the skinning community has had about 4 mini-wars raging. Is it fallout from the 'war on terrorism' and worry over the global and US situation(s)? It seems that many in the scene have got a major bug up their collective ass!

Brad gets vilified.
l0c and jier lose their minds -apparantly.
l0c and jier get publically flayed. >
Alex sets a new record and gets crucified for her reward
The script / warez doodz get all riled up

Pretty much, the whole mess makes me want to

Why bother posting / sharing / participating at all?

Because we love our hobby, Russ.
At least, that's why I'm here!!

There was an article on one of the news sites that has said that all types of arguing and public displays of anger have increased since Sept 11.

The theory being that a lot of people were so upset by what occurred on Sept 11 but had no constructive venue to vent that frustration. I don't know if that's what's been going on in our community lately or not. But it's still interesting.

Ditto Vahalla!
The thing is, Russ...just a few people complain, but those complain and keep bitching for everything...

Sometimes the only reward we have are the silence of the download counters growing, for us to know that a part of us are entering in thousands of homes and offices all over the world.

This is why I love to participate.

I think Russ just wanted to use the vomit emoicon.

Purrrr... Hurry up and make my desktop pretty, Russ!

Because skinning should be fun!

Sorry, I've been waiting forever for an opportunity to use that here

Or could Russ be presenting this case as a precurser to further the expansion of his biking time
hehe, just kidding Russ, a little levity here won't kill us and might help (plus I'm an avid mtn biker as well and can never find enough time to ride...not to mention its getting darn cold here in Manitoba to ride).

Actually Valhalla summed it up nicely

Russ: folks have lost their PMA (temporarily, I hope)

Then of course, they may have forgotten that if they were skinning, they wouldn't have time to fight.
Because skinning should be fun!

So the bad guys don't win. That's why we must always continue on like always or the bad guys will have won. - (idea from a movie by Stephen King - "Silver Bullet". Average movie, good idea)

I'm with you Russ. I felt the same way coming here today. I think Brad has a point that the events of Sept 11th and the ensuing uncertainty has made for a lot of raw nerves, deep sadness and inapropriate responses.

I was in a 7.2 earthquake (Lomo Prieta in '89) and the entire downtown area (Santa Cruz) was destroyed. All the buildings came apart, the power was out for over a week, the roads in and out of the area were wrecked, 20,000 homes were wiped out, another 40,000 homes were severly damaged and it seemed that everyone lost all their dishes, their TV and their chimney (if they had one). People were afraid to be indoors and slept outside, even when it started raining.

The point of this is most people were pretty strange for quite a while after. Most folks reffered to it as 'bouncing off the walls'. Doctors reffered to it as 'post traumatic stress'. It became clear that it was best not to judge any one harshly for their behavior or what they might say because most people were not themselves (wether they were aware of it or not). It lasted a long time, months in some cases. but people eventually returned to normal.

I'm not sure, after Sept 11th, that it's ever going to be normal again.

No not crucified Russ. An opinion was given. I gave my opinion. I didnt call her names, i didnt swear at her. I didnt even say her other work sucked in any way. I simply said i dont see what the fuss about her latest slew of win xp copies.

If you guys want to blame sept 11th then go ahead. I cant speak for 10c and jier as they have always been tards in my book but i stand by my statements before. As far as i know we're allowed to say how we feel. Or should we only shower people with accolades here and stifle any criticism so as not to offend anyone? I chose that thread for a reason. I certainly wasnt going to start a "LETS FLAME ALEXANDRIE" thread, cuz i dont feel any animosity towards her. Just think what she recently (the skins on the thread in question) put out lacks any artistic originality and shes being rewarded for it.

I respect that.

Great... now we can turn this thread into an argument about correct grammatical usage!
