Graphics problem please help!

Why is it when i play the original sins game the graphics look amazing, but then when i play diplomacy the graphics look like crap?

it seems like the game is not working right becuase on dilpomacy the effect bars are at the highest and the game looks like its on just high or medium high, this sucks, so can it be fixed or do i have to deal with this crap!?

I'm having the same issue with steam, maxed graphics in the effects option but its still low quality. I haven't found any posts about the issue and i tried reinstalling and any option to fix it.. nothing works.
