Title Bar Skinning of Firefox 8.0.1

Hi everyone:

I'm having a problem with WindowBlinds 7.3.310 (Win7 64bit).  It is trying to skin Firefox (v8.0.1), even though I don't want it to.  By default, it will apply the skin's titlebar to Firefox, overlaying the nice persona I have applied (or any other persona I try).  I have tried going into the settings and applying a per application rule to firefox.exe ("Total Exclusion" - "Ignore this application and do not skin it"), but that only exchanges the WindowBlinds glassy skin titlebar with a big block of colour, and furthermore removing the minimize/maximize/close buttons.  I have also tried a number of other per application settings, such as "Disable titlebar skinning for this app", with no luck.  I've also noticed that the Firefox window borders are always wrong... they are rendered either glassy or completely transparent and not according to my Firefox persona.

I've tried disabling my Firefox addons (except for my persona), with no luck there either.

(Strangely, WindowBlinds won't touch WinAMP or Steam.  I don't get any overlayed titlebars incorrectly applied on those.)

How can I get WindowBlinds to not touch Firefox at all please?  Or is there another way to fix this problem please?

Thanks for any suggestions. :)

Unfortunately the exclusion issue is a Firefox issue not a WB one.  They make incorrect assumptions when no theme is available.

As for the other issue, Firefox custom draws its own titlebar and as such we cannot tell the difference between its personas and the normal look.  As the bulk of customers would use the default look that is the one WB has been designed to work with.

As for why winamp and steam do not have the issues, thats because those apps do things in a normal way.  Firefox does things in a highly unusual way rendering the entire UI with Direct3D even down to the controls overlapping the titlebar area.

It is possible if you force HW acceleration off in Firefox that it may respond in the way you would like it to.

Perhaps that's why per-app skinning of Palemoon doesn't work.  Thanks for the insight, Neil.

Thank you very much for the quick reply, and the thorough explanation. :D  I think I'll just stick with Chrome for a while then... ;)

the firefox extension "titlebar in personas(its called that in the addons manager)" will correct the persona skinning issue. at least, it does on my win7 64bit. note: the extension is actually called "Ever Low theme Titlebar" on the addons website.
