1.39 Beta first try.

I finally had some time to play and try to see some of the changes.  I ended up simply quitting after I spent more time typing out issues than playing the game.

*Turn 2 city expanded 3 squares after building one hut.   - That’s a bit excessive for epic pacing.

*Building time 1 turn even on epic pacing for simple buildings.  - Too fast for epic.

*Research did not pop-up until turn 4 with the +1 bonus.  -  Too slow to kick in.

*Level 2 city 5 squares ZOC in 11 turns.  -  Too fast.

*Turn 20+ I’m already border buddies with an NPC on a large map on epic pacing.  Had to go to war to get past him to discover rest of the map. –Too Fast and annoying.

*Path finding skipped a turn to find a path or didn’t move until manually entered. - broken

*Auto resolved a battle while I had the heal spell.  Saw results stopped playing…frustrated.

Still a long road.

After the beta ended, I quit playing the game for a long time, moving on to other games.  Recently I downloaded 1.30 and started playing it again.  I encountered several problems that had been seen in the original beta, including the "rescue the knight/damsel" quest being impossible to complete and goodie huts that were invisible on the cloth map, plus a number of new ones (like not being able to cast the regeneration spell).  In my second game I ran into the stagnation bug, so when I saw a description of that on the forums, I upgraded to 1.39.  Now I move one unit and the game skips to the next turn even though I have other units with movement available.  I sure hope 1.40 makes it playable.
