Doesn't Windows 7 allow for a 30 day trial before activation? That shouldn't be a problem unless you're at day 30.

If it is valid.. Microsoft can validate it over the phone and give you a proper product key.

Perhaps the Ethernet port is not supported in Win 7.. wouldnt be the first time.

Pop down to the store and pick up a $15 ethernet adapter?

I bought one for 12 bucks last year.

I have already tried that but it wont let me install the drivers because my windows 7 is notgenuine and my product key that i got was invalid

If your windows 7 is not genuine... you need to reinstall a genuine OS... or back to the library.

Not sure what help you think can be given to you.

Goodness. X-(

Then you need to take it up with whoever you got it from (if it was a legitimate source), or get a new/legitimate key from somewhere more reputable.

There's something to be said for being from an island that started out as a penal (in this case, penis) colony.

Headline: "Pirated Software Bricks Computer."   Anyone surprised?

Ever hear P.T. Barnum's famous quote?

Solution: 1. Low level format of your drive. 2. Go to legitimate dealer. 3. Install legitimate Windows. 4. Activate same.

You've been reading your history books again, haven't you?

Thing is, not everybody in Oz is descended from the penal system or penises, though I suspect a penis was partly responsible in this case.....

Anyhow, I think I'll change tack before I go put my foot in it. :X

As to the ethernet port not working, well there has to be something fundamentally wrong with the copy of Win 7 for it not to be.  I've done several legit installs of Win 7 and have never struck and ethernet port not working.... Win 7 has always installed the necessary drivers.  If the copy is legit, ring MS with the error info and they will fix it... or alternatively, go get a legit copy if you don't want to return to Vista.

Besides, the ethernet drivers should be on the mobo installation disk... always have been with every mobo I've had.

I have got the Ethernet thing not installing it was is on the 7 Ultimate 64bit that MS gave me when installing it on my gateway 7 Home Preimum 64bit other partition

but all I had to do was log off and log on to 7 Home Premium and went to intell to get it..

to OP

revert back to Vista

try installing 7 with a fresh install no upgrade or try partitioning your HD and install it over there... then you can go back to vista look on line to find what you need... to fix your Ethernet driver..  just a thought ... may help may not....
