Holy cow, Harley... I'm so sorry this has happened. :(

There are services which can extract all the info... here's one http://www.salvagedata.com/data-recovery/

Don't know how good they are.. but I figure you're one smart fella, and if you say it's irretrievable, you know better than I.

Wish I could do something to help....

Harley, I don't know what software you have... but Acronis Home 2011 is totally outstanding, and can be set to automatically back up things any time a change is made....

It's what I use.

Everyone loses something....once.

This NEEDS TO BE your 'once'.

Doc's link may help....[a bit]...;)

I'd put another vote in for Acronis Home.  Been using it for years.

Save all your work to your main hard drive, but backing up every 30 days is not often enough Harley.  I back all my work up daily to an external HD. Good idea for any skin developer.

That's one advice I'd never recommend.
I keep anything important on seperate (physical) drives, in case of a massive OS fuckup. I may loose some OS settings etc etc and have to spend days on getting the sytem back up to specs but I'll never loose any work/skins/pics.

You never really understand the value of a backup until its needed.

Hate to hear that happened Harley.

I would also cast my vote for Acronis, I use it at home and I also have it licensed here at the office. I understand that all the recomendations in the world is still not going to help with the current situation, but gives you an ideal of how to plan for the future.

I also agree with Snowman: with the price of external drives being so cheap now-a-days, I keep 2 or 3 500G drives in my laptop case and thats where all the documents, etc go.

5*  except all you need to do is to make a disk image, and you can do that as many times as you wish.

Expect if you forgot to make a backup disk image, or your software spits a dummy while making the image. I never rely on un-reliable software?
Don't rely on software doing what you yourself can do better.

I do all my backing up manually. May be labour intensive, but it gets done right and I'm 100% what's backed up.

I have my gfx on a seperate physical (internal) drive, and back up on a/several external(s). Got about 6 or 7 TB of external drives for various back ups. (I -never- delete any images)

Ironi's a bitch.....

Lost a 250 GB HDD 30 min ago while prepping for a back up. >_<

Luckily I've gotten it up and running again, in an external HD box, and am currently backing up -everything- on the drive.
Otherwise I could have kissed goodbye approx 57.000 skins/themes.

That has never happened to me, Snowy. I've been using Acronis for years.

In fact, I've never heard of it happening with Acronis at all.

Sorry to hear that, my friend. Can you maybe bring it back with Win7's default System Restore somehow???

I never said that it has happend or ever will happen, with any kind/brand of software. ;)
Personally I just don't rely on software doing what I can do myself.
