Map Editor Trouble

How to get maps in game?

So I've been trying to use the map editor to make some maps, but no matter what I do they never show up in the game. 

I'm making a map, randomly generating it, setting a planet as homeworld for "custom", saving the map to the mymaps or custom maps or what ever folder within the game, and nothing shows up.

Am I missing a step?  Do I need to assign homeworlds for everyone?  Am I saving to the wrong folder?

Sorry, still playing, but I've never tried the map editor.

Baron, I use the map editor every day.  What happens when you choose custom map at the start up menu for the game?  As you scroll down, thats where they should be.
