fyi - www.demigodthegame.com/opengames.asp is redirecting to http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/.  Not sure what the issue is.  Thanks.

Pacov has an interim solution (which works).

Open up impulse.  Click on community.  Click on games.  This still works and you can even join a game directly from here.

i havent played as much demigod as i usually do, simply because im lazy to use impulse (takes too long to open and honestly i dont like to have impulse opened consuming pc resources), im pretty sure that there are a lot of ppl like me also.

I don't open Impulse to play.  I keep the Impulse Dock running and launch the game from there.

I experience no difference with my system when I have that dock open.

Same here. + I don't like how impulse doesn't show when the game was started. Maybe it was one hour ago and I could expect people to join me? Or maybe they just started and I shouldn't expect any players soon?

Also, I don't like any pc resources consuming programs like Impulse, to run only for such tiny and barely useful reason... It's actually easier to open gameranger and join players there, than here...

I just think it deserves a response one way or the other.

But can this redirection really be an accident?

I'm a bit surprised here... anyway, I've opened a ticket with SD support (and received the confirmation ticket #), gave kryo a shout in IRC, and pm'd frogboy.  Perhaps their really busy, but they haven't bother to respond in any of those routes (which is strange to me anyway).  I can probably pester someone a wee bit in irc soon until we get an answer... silence is an answer as well

I asked about this internally when Pacov brought it to my attention earlier, and just now heard back--it appears that opengames was a victim of the Impulse server transfer. Unfortunately though, since the systems it relies on are no longer under our control, we can't maintain the tool any longer.

I'm checking to see if the listing within Impulse will continue to work as a fallback.

Maybe implementing more informations at the impulse side (there is space for more bars, so all the informations at the original side could be shown there) could be an solution?

Or just install the old side again? Can't be that server load, I think.

Sorry for a noob question. I'm no programmer. Can't we, the fans, host a similar web-based page based on info taken from Impulse (Community->Games)?

I smell something bad is going to happen to the community then... :S I personally am not playing it for past days only, because I cannot see if any games are open and when they were started. Using impulse is a partial solution, however. Before that, I never used Impulse. Nor any other lots of resources consuming program (my computer is quite weak), when playing demigod. Browser with one very simple link was enough. but now... Impulse takes few minutes to start (just because of that I don't even want to check if anyone is online). Impulse has lots of things, which I completely don't need, when I want only to check open games. And it causes additional (not so much, but enough to feel) lags for me while playing. Yeah, I can close it, but after game I won't see open games again, so I'd have to wait few minutes again, and again and again. In other words - better not to even start bothering with all this...

I'm not sure if I'll continue playing this game... or at least not here... (really took lots of effort to push me out of this...)

And this post is not negative. It's just how I feel about this change and how it impacts me.

Well, that's why I was asking if we can get a page based on Impulse up. Be constructive and answer me, ffs! ;)

It's one of the best games for me at the moment. But I agree that it is very disappointing to see that stardock does no more support.

There are still new players (maybe just downloaded the demo?) who get disappointed easily by realizing that, for stardock, the game seems to be dead.

Why no turorial at all? A friend of mine told me he downloaded the demo but didn't played it seriously because he was not in the mood to discover all the things in the game for himself. So, why thinking of really buying the game when the demo don't wake up curiousity for more?

Another thing is that new players don't get a warm welcome... Ok, but that is our faul, not Stardocks.

But still seeing that the game is more and more abandoned by its publisher is the last kick somebody wants to get. There are many other games to play, why bother here with all the bugs? Host leaves game and *boom* you've lost the game... That is real crap.

Still, I've never seen before members of a community done so much for a game. I mean a mod that fixes bugs? What the hell... Would be Stardocks job!But that is really a point why I will stay with this game because of all the people who have done cool stuff for the game and are still doing.

Stardock should from time to time think about their image. When I worked in hospital we were told that one person who felt treated badly will influence 80 other. So, with this experience somebody might think twice to get a game from Stardock again.

And still, they're selling it... So it fells is some kind of ripoff to me. A "dead" game should be for free to polish the own image at least a bit.

But, hopefully, I'm wrong...

Well, was a little bit off-topic, sorry! But I just was in the mood for that.

I'll stay with this game as long as the important things in this community (for me) are still going on.

Update-

The Impulse games listing will continue to be available in its current form for the foreseeable future.

Plaguewraith, IN1,

While we would like to continue to offer the opengames tool, doing so requires a level of direct access that we do not have to systems which are now owned by Gamestop as part of the Impulse sale. Likewise, any changes to the Impulse implementation would need to be done by Gamestop/Impulse, as we no longer own it.

As to changes to the game itself, those are and have always been primarily GPG's domain.

I see. Thanks, kryo.

Anyway, guys, half of you are programmers, while the second half is... well, software engineers. How about making an online page that will display the same info Impulse does? Is it complicated? If it's not, I think that'll do as a replacement (while I'm aware some people want to see game start time, etc., most of us just want a web-based ongoing games listing, I suppose).

Ok, I apologize for critizing the false people in my last post. It was maybe a little to offending... But I would really like to keep this game going. Hope nobody feels personally offended, that was not my purpose (though I hope my critics, even if they are not so nicely written, will be heard anyways).

So maybe exchange "Stardock" for "GPG" in my former post then. ;-)

If the situation changes or you folks can see an easy way to offer us the opengames.asp website again, I think I speak for everyone in saying that we'd appreciate it.  That said, glad that the impulse method will continue to work for some time anyway.  Thanks for checking on that!

edit - I did get a reply from stardock support today basically saying the same thing as kryo.  I've locked this thread.  Kryo - if we have any super exciting news, please unlock and bump.  At any rate, thanks again for looking into this for us.

quick followup from pacov - I know we all would like opengames.asp back, but that's not in the cards now.  I'll probably make a post sometime soon, but there are some options that you can add to the FILTERS in impulse that do not exist on the website.  So honestly, we are getting a few features and losing some.  Believe me, I side with the "I want opengames back" crowd, but there are some positives if you will take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with the tool.
