Cannot get past STEP 2 of impulse anywhere

So at step 2 I get this:

Product Activation

To complete your product's activation, locate the file you saved in "Step 1" by using the "Browse" button below, and click "Submit Activation".
(This file will be named something similar to "Product Activation Request.dat")

[At this point I locate the created .dat file and when I click on it I get this: ]

There was a problem registering your product, please contact Stardock support for assistance.

And that's it...
I installed Impulse and I downloaded 9 parts of the installation for Elemental AND 6 parts of Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity, they both say the same when I try to install them.  I searched high and low for an answer to my problem and find nothing.
What gives?...  I paid for products I can't even get to use and it took forever to download, help please.
I get no activation by email option or anything just this silly 3 step process where I can't even get passed step 2 which only says to contact support which I did and I'm still waiting...  This is my ticket ZBH-266106

When did you submit your problem to Support, mikerichdesigns?

Have you checked your email spam folders for the auto response and any others?

Sent my email on the 24th of June, yeah I know it's not very long and the tone of my post is not meant to be taken as impatient but I wish something like this would be much easier to find an answer to...

yeah I got the auto response hence the ticket number, nothing in the spam folder though...  I tried installing as directed on another computer and got the same result, not being able to get past step 2, so it ain't the computers.

Am I the only one that encountered this problem?

Besides the auto response, you won't be hearing from support until after the weekend (M-F, 9-5)....

Make sure the account you ordered from (email/password) is the same as your Impulse account... other than that, sorry for your trouble.

Thank you Hankers and DrJBHL,

I followed all your steps and advice and it worked, Elemental didn't work though because apparently the downloaded files were corrupt somehow so they are being downloaded again as we speak but Sins installed without a problem on my offline computer, yeepee!

I haven't tried tried installing the offline Sins files on the online computer yet but it shouldn't be a problem right if I follow the same steps?

Downloaded Elemental again and installed it without a glitch, hurray!  Now I can't play LAN with Elemental without being online and having a copy for both of MY computers...  Grrrr....  My offline computer is offline because it is in an offline location...

I'm glad I finally installed Elemental but now I have to play solo, my hurray went to boohoo for me, I need the world's smallest violin now to go with my imaginary tear...

So you can download offline installation files but cannot play multiplayer unless someone is online and everyone has a separate account and serial of the game....  I wanna poke my finger in someone's eye...

How about a small fee for a Multiplayer only version that gets tied in to each purchased game?  Maybe a limit it to 2 players per serial, something....  Have a brainstorming session, Stardock is known to be different, give a little plus for those who pay the buck!  Hmmm catchy...
