theme manager applies all but the windowblinds skin for Aero Midnight

Hi i bought Object desktop and a wincustomize subscription....however when i try to apply the "Aero Midnight" theme through the Theme Manager, it only applies the wallpaper (no windowblinds, nor any of its widgets) when i right-click on this theme and click "open Folder", there is no skin for windowblinds in it how do i get a fully functional copy of Aero Midnight? or can i fix this somehow?? ....one of the reasons why i paid 50+ dollars is because of this theme and many others....

Please help!

Sincerely,

~Sublime20~

All I can say is Theme Manager is a bit wonky...has been for some time. Your better off applying each element on it's own.

Aero Midnight a master skin are you sure you brought it.?

If it came with Theme Manager then I would email Stardock.

I think Aero midnight comes standard with WB

sublime20 try opening windowblinds and see if the theme is there.

Ok firstly, its not showing up in my WB, otherwise it would be in between Aero Frost, and Aero Metals... all of my other themes show up in WB...

secondly Aero Midnight comes free with OD purchase as part of the Theme Manager, if you dont buy OD it has to be purchased for $4.95 from Wincustomize.

in the picture above (screenshot of my desktop) as you can see i applied the theme, but only the wallpaper shows (no skin or gadgets nor Icon Packager Icons)

i know its stupid to get stuck on one small WB skin, but i happen to like the look and feel of it...

I figured i would ask here, i didnt think to e-mail Stardock.. ill try that channel i guess in accordance with trying to see if i can get help with this thread

also thank you for all of your guy's help so far!

Sublime-

Looks like you have the theme and it's just not applying.  Go to your shared documents folder, \Stardock\ThemeManager.

See the file named Aero Midnight.suite.

Copy it to another file, rename that file to Aero Midight.zip.

Open the new file with WinZip or whatever zip util you like.

You will see folders in the zip file: Gadgets, IconPackager, WindowBlinds, each with Aero Midnight subfolders.

Copy the Aero Midnight folder from the Windowblinds folder over to your shared documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds folder.

Copy the Aero Midnight folder from the Icon Packager directory into your shared documents\Stardock\IconPackager folder.

The Aero Midnight folders in the Gadgets folder need to be copied down into the programs folder, Program Files\Stardock\DesktopGadgets on my machine.

Cumbersome, but like they've said "it's broke", and that should let you apply each of the pieces.  I hope that gets it for you.

Ok, i got it to work, but in a somewhat different way than you mentioned DaveRI: the only thing i did differently was after i assosiated the file as a zip file, i actually opened up WB and clicked install from disk, then navigated to the zip file i reassociated....

just putting them into the folders didnt cut it appearently.. but its ok... (I GOT IT TO WORK!!) Thanks for your help DaveRI!!

Hmm, ya I probably needed to tell you to click on the "Skin Options / Rebuild List" command in WB and the "Settings" / "Rebuild Icon Cache" button in IconPackager.. The apps read their theme directories once after a boot and make a cache, then just read the cache, faster that way.  They wouldn't have known the new folders were out there until you rebooted.

Don't know which way might be easier, your way might be for that matter.  More than one way to skin a cat.

Glad you got it out there.

Hi, I just downloaded object desktop and I too am having issues with the Theme Manager.  I clicked on one of the themes that came with the software and it did not load as you see it in the software.  No background image and no blinds.  All I got was a few desktop icons that changed.  Is there a way around this?  I have windows 8 64bit.  I too bought this because of the theme thing!! Disappointing i might say.

Thanks Kathryn.

I believe it has been noted in other threads that Theme Manager will not likely get an update.  Folks were having problems getting it to work with correctly with previous OS.

You should be able to change the file to a zip and then extract the parts and move them to the correct folders and then apply the individual skins.  Keep in mind if the theme is old the WB skin may not work well with Windows 8.

Philly, I think some of the suites actually just link to the skins, unless you already have them installed. The skins aren't actually in the .suite file or zip.

I downloaded your last suite, Dark Steel, changed it to a zip file, extracted it, and all I got were 3 files. No skins at all.
