Buying & bitching

I wonder why people buy things from Friday evening through Monday morning and complain when something goes wrong.  Stardock is closed during that time so they can't help.  I've been here for damn near 10 years and nothing has changed.  Oh well, just venting.

I'm guessing maybe that's why. :)

Never made sense to me either, WOM. I understand your frustration... every weekend I can count on writing "fire off an email to support or sales" with the addition of "don't answer until you get an email from an actual person"....

I don't mind helping, but it's just soooo repetious. Not only that, but it happens again and again. ;)

I've saved a response like that and just copy and paste it at this point.

Why don't people buy on Monday? X-(

Karen, we MODS don't work for Stardock, so if they buy something we can't fix it for them.  It takes an employee to do that.  So that means Monday unless they luck out and they happen to get one that had nothing to do on the weekend.

I know -- I'm just saying maybe the reason people complain before Stardock is open for business is because they just need to vent.  It's disappointing to have to delay satisfaction, so they bitch...it's all they can do until Monday.

I know modding is a hard, thankless job, especially on the weekends, so I'm going to take this opportunity to formally thank you for all that you do.  I hope you know you're appreciated by the community. <3

Actually, it's because the sales are on the weekends. Who knew?

Maybe they should make the weekend sales on Monday... the devious nature of that should really appeal to folks.

Very good idea, Doc. I can understand their frustration...when I buy a new toy, I want to play with it NOW, not two days later.

Also most people just don't realize that WC and it's mods aren't Stardock (well kinda), they think it's one and the same.

If there's that many problems on the weekend perhaps Stardock should hire some part time support to work those days.

There would be less headaches for the regular support personnel on Monday morning and the customers would be taken care of that much faster.

Maybe people should take the time to read the system requirements before they purchase. And follow the instructions correctly when they install what they purchased. I believe that 99.5% of problems experienced are the fault of the user and not the software. The problem is that people have no patience. If it doesn't work the first time, instead of fetching and moaning try again. Expend some effort in sorting out your own problem and learn how to use your computer and the software you have bought. Then is it still doesn't work and you have tried everything it's a good bet that the software may be at fault.

What else could one say to Master CarGuy1 but... (wait for it)..... "Dream on!"  ;)

Actually a good suggestion (and one I'm sure they've thought of in the past), but the opportunity for the line was too much to pass up on. I should be sorry.....but I'm not.

I believe that torch was just passed to Gamestop (the hiring part) SD is still doing support but if any new people come on I doubt SD would be the ones to hire them.

maybe SD should put in BIG BOLD TYPE by buying on the weekend their is no support till Monday

or just don't sale on the week ends..

or let them know that if you buy on the weekend it will not go through till Monday..

but then the last 2 would open up a new can of worms...

or what Carguy1 said..

cause that one would just let the customer know that SD cares about their customers.. and not just $$

Agree, at the 95% level, Lantec. Almost all the problems are game purchase related. The very few seem to be SD Customization software related. I think the problems come up through the week but many folks probably are tired from work, so seek help on the week ends, not realizing SD folks have weekends also.

Glad, CG1. We all deserve one as often as possible. :)

When I originally bought OD in several years ago, it was over the Thanksgiving holiday. I had issues with the install and fired off an email to SD support. They helped me OVER THE HOLIDAY and got the issue solved. I don't care how many people want to bitch- SD gets a 5*   from me.......

Not that things can't just go wrong and you just need help with something. It doesn't mean you are bitching about something. I have had many of Stardock's programs go wrong and needed help with them and have had to contact Support and they have always helped me as best they could. I really appreciate Stardock for that. They always do the best they can whenever I have a problem with their programs. It's just inevitable that their will always be problems with any program that anyone buys even when they know everything about their computer and the program they buy. It is not always human error.

I could have a bitch myself, being I've been trying to  renew my OD sub fer over a week now and can't, but I won't.  For some reason I can't access my account to make a necessary change to my email details, and there's no point in purchasing a sub with an hotmaill addy I can no longer access.

Nope, I won't have a bitch, won't piss n' moan, either... but I might have ter cry in me shandy coz I be 'avin' ter look at nekkid Winders.

:-"

Hopefully it'll all get sorted in the morning... tomorrow night for me. |-)

Just because your sub has expired doesn't mean the programs wont work...you just lose the abitity to update and to reinstall.

At least you're running Windows 7, which still looks good naked.

Usually that is the case, but I had to move my OS to a new HDD and my archived apps don't/won't work for some reason.... and Impulse won't let me redownload them until I up my sub.

It's not that big a deal ['cept for the watered down shandy] and I'm sure 'Support" will get it sorted soon. :)

How long is it going to be before we have an Impulse replacement for our OD apps.?

^ as long as it takes to get it as 'right' as possible, Phoon. :)

This has been going on too long, Mark. Please post your support ticket number and I'll try to push it a bit. ;)

Typically people who have trouble over the weekend is accounts which are flagged as fraud or something else like the bank puts a hold on it.  In reality, the proportion of people who have an issue are very, very small considering the volume of transactions that are done on any typical day.

I can't give a specific time, but we are hoping to talk more about this soon.  The Impulse sale was just completed and we can now put more focus on things like that.
