Well, a funny thing happened today when my new husband and I went to the naval base to get me a military ID card. I was asked to produce identification, so I got out my driver’s license, my concealed weapon permit, my VA ID card, my voters registration card, my social security card, my library card and my marriage certificate, whew and was told that was insufficient????? They had to have my birth certificate too ………… And of course when I mentioned that the President of the US isn’t required to show his … they all laughed and told me that even he would have to produce his too if he were to get his own ID card. This is both comical and sad … especially considering that I had spent 10 years in the USN too. Bummer, now I have to send out for a copy oh my.

Did you call them racists? That seems to work for some. Which RAPIDS office did you go to in VA? When my wife and I went for her ID card, we showed them her Chinese copy. It could have said anything, because none there could read it. No issue though.

Nitro Cruiser - Maybe this is indicative of inner agency cooperation … where the different agencies pick their own way and try not to cooperate with anyone else about it. They probably just don’t want to confuse anyone, hehehe. It isn’t really an issue … just thought I was covered. I am going to get a passport next because that too is actually considered proper identification. I should be ok though with my soon to be had birth certificate and military ID card … I hope, hehehe.
