dA should be careful ... there are laws which determine what images can be shown. It would be considered porn in Oz and could get dA in trouble.

I agree. That is why the way they do things there is not working. Everything should go through an approval system before stuff like that is uploaded. Even if they officially say that they do not allow  this stuff it is only removed after the fact and somethings seem to never be removed. I had enough of it and canceled my membership. I am only waiting for the confirmation email.

Uploads need to be moderated or at least have a system in place so something can be removed quickly, they have a young audience who don't need to be subjected to this type of thing. At first I thought it was someone displaying shock art. But he is just an idiot trying to cause distress.

Hope dA gets onto it straight away.

I have seen it on DA this morning aswell. And i must a agree, that is some sick stuff that the guy defines as art.
I bet 5 bucks, that this is a teenager thats frustrated that his previous account got removed.

But no doubt that this is something that needs to get fixed in less than 24 hours.

This is beyond being an art-snob or protecting the miniscule amount of dignity that DA may have left. They may as well join the Vaticant, because all they do anymore is cover for and ignore what is some of the very worst aspects of the internet and the creeps who take advantage of it. From not doing ANY kind of age verification to prevent teens from posting their nude self-portraits to a button that any teen, minor, or pedophile can click to 'control' the content of what is veiwed with out any verification of age. The passive aggressive BS they assert by entrusting the community to monitor the content and check for rights violations (copyright and human) is brilliant.  It's absolutely amazing  to me that to date, no news organization hasn't blown the lid of the entire site and it's failure to moderate or control it's content.

This is the third or fourth time I have said this, deviantArt is absolutely the worst site on the Internet for what they allow, avoid it completely!

I believe it has been reported by many people at least according to the comments. The garbage is still up on the site though. I made my opinions known but have not reported it because I have reported lots of other stuff in the past which was ignored. That is another reason why I left. It seems like anything goes there and I have both values and morals. I am not a prude but I do not consider that to be art or anything that the art community needs. 

I once had a run-in all-in fight/argument over what constituted child-porn vs 'artistic expression' at Devart.

Like common sense, common decency is also really poorly named.

Sooner or later a parent...the 'right' parent with political connections...is gonna find their kid posting on there and take a good long look at all the content and DA will be slammed so hard they won't know wtf hit them. They'll have to verify age, model permissions and age, and have better filters. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up having to split the site up and I don't think that it's far-fetched. It's just that they have gone under the radar of the people who can make the most noise and pull the right strings. In the meantime, as big as it is, it has to be one of the best kept secrets among teens.

I've been reluctant to delete my account there as I use a lot of stock and resources from some 'real' artists and a lot of them don't like you using it if you're not a member. It's tough deciding between making a statement against the negative side of the site or taking a stand for the real artists and skinners who hang there. On the other hand, aside from 'commenting' on stuff back and forth, I don't participate in the forums or anything going on there, my page views are negligible, so I wouldn't really be losing all that much. I have to think about it. Doesn't Stardock and Wincustomize maintain accounts on DA or have they just stopped updating them?

Keep us updated on this. I for one can't go back and look at that. I've already skipped breakfast and lunch because of it.

I'm thinking I don't wan to to look at it judging from everyone is saying. If the  descriptions are enough then I can only imagine what it is. Once, while surfing around in DA I found a pic with subjects far too young. There was no mistaking their age.

No kids (Lord, at least I hope not) but just as disgusting. I'm still sorry I went looking for it but curiosity, you know. I would tell you what the pic has inspired me to cross of my diet but it would be the same as forcing you to look at it...it's THAT bad.

If it is truly as bad as you say then DA should rightfully be up in arms. Wonder why an Admin hasn't seen fit to defend DA's actions. Or a mod for that matter. They did the last time with the todo with the cursor thief.

Uvah I think they did take action but from my experience when action is taken if any it comes slowly. In the meantime the crap is left up on the site for all to see including young children. I once reported something there and it was over 3 months before I received a reply and even then nothing was done. Measures need to be in place to prevent this in the first place instead of slow removal. I can no longer support that site.
