Update on Atlantis

I've been told there was a leak from the team that's investigating the mysterious formations discovered off the coast of Cuba.

The word from an *inside* source is:

The initial reports based on the side-scan sonar readings are true. They have found an entire city at a depth of 2,200 feet about fifty miles off the coast of Cuba. The city has pyramids, roads(like highways) buildings and looks like a complete urban development. It is in a plain of rolling white sand dunes that stretches for miles.

An official announcement of the discovery will be made later this year after more exploration can be done, some academic evaluations can be made and the impact of this news on society can be assessed. There is a joint effort which includes National Geographic involved in the exploration and a lot of copyright issues have to be resolved as well.

No news will be released before the public announcement is made but this member of the team felt it was important to let the world know the discovery is proving to be as important as as the initial reports indicated. They said that among the teams diving at the site the common thread of discussion is - "We've discovered Atlantis".

Or they've just discovered an ancient Olmek (or so) city. There's plenty of stuff hiding beneath the waters.

oh, yeah, you bet yer butt...it's atlantis...
if it were just (and i mean no insult to them by that term "just") an Olmec site, parts of the structure of those pyramids and cityscapes woudl identify it as such, instantly, to a trained eye.

the bigger proof is that this subject is being discussed here, on a totally unrealted niche art site, rather than the big archeological, news, and science sites.

Pandoras Box, Man.....
boy are the Egyptians gonna be pissed off when all this comes out...

Ray of Ken, it won't just be the Egyptians Here are some links that I had posted in another thread a while back. If you are interested in this kind of stuff they are a highly recomended read.

Pyrimid Matrix : Give it a few moments to load the flash, there is information there.

Ancient Gemantrian Numbers : More on Carl Munck

A Monument To The End Of Time : This is a very interesting read, based heavily on factual research and history.

The Egyptians will indeed be pissed, as will the entire academic archaeology community. They've been insisting that there could be no antedeluvian culture and they've ridiculed any scientific effort to prove otherwise, claiming there's no evidence. Even geological proof that the Sphinx is at least 7.000 years old (and more likely 10,000 yrs) has been rejected by the academic world because it threatens to overturn their standard model.

The Egyptians are very protective of their role in history and do not want to hear that their ancestors might have been influenced by another culture. A lot of academic feathers will be ruffled plus anyone whose world-view does not allow for new discoveries. They will be seriously bent out of shape by irrefuttable evidence of an advanced culture existing before 3,000 BC.

Hmmnmmm..... So, where did 2000 some-odd feet of water come from to cover a civilization?

I'm sure they didn't build it 2000 feet below sea level.... Man... Global warming surely sucks...

Hog of Buzz,

Every major religion has some sort of record of a massive flood thousands of years ago. Read AMET http://www.sangraal.com/AMET/intro.html it will blow your mind what they have re-discovered.

There is so much knowledge that has been right under our noses all of these years. It is mind boggling. Read some Sacrates or Pythagorous and then realize that they were taught by their elders who in turn learned from their elders and so on. We have truely become a very unknowledgable world as a whole.

Maybe it is an underwater civilization and the mermaid myths were true....

Shhh... Don't tell anyone...

It is the secret city where they get Sea Monkeys from. I'm investing heavily in Sea Money stock and we are going to bring the craze back and make millions

I've read too much Von Däniken stuff, so I'm entrenched with this stuff. This is an interesting site on such topics: http://www.dailygrail.com

David only scratches the bare surface of the linkage between the Egyptian National Identity and the blind beleif that there can be no great civiliztion before them.

it runs really, really deep...just watch Hali Salassi on TV soemtimes.

Finding out that all of Egyptian culture is derivative of a culture just a few miles from Florida will dive them insane...

oh, water levels used to eb a lot lower, when the ice caps stretched down to St'Louis Missouri, there Buzz....that endless plain was well above the water line at the time...

When I was a kid, My parents would take us to a place called "Shark's Tooth Hill" just outside of Bakersfield Calif., We'd dig & dig for Sharks teeth. On one trip into the desert, My Dad found the Mother of all Mothers...A Megalodon!

BTW they closed that dig site down. Too many people were comming up with "Valley Fever" & Dying

That's really interesting China... Valley Fever eh? Maybe it was more like an exposure to uranium that made them close it (or they wanted the shark's teeth to themselves).

kenray - do you really mean Hailli Sellassi or Zahi Hawass? Zahi is the "Director of antiquities" for the Giza Plateau, which includes the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid. The other gentleman was the spiritual and political leader of Ethiopia which is a bit further south ...

My favorite "absurd egyptologist" statement was by Dr Hawass on a TV program on the Discovery Channel. He was trying to be convincing about the "fact" that the Great Pyramid is not anything but an empty tomb and actually said "really it's just a.. well... a pile of rocks."

The official academic view still taught in school is that the Great Pyramid was built by King Kufu to be his tomb, and was botched in the construction so they buried him somewhere else. Even though nothing has ever been found in the Great Pyramid to indicate it was either a tomb or was built by Kufu.

hehe it was prolly the oil Dave,

Supposedly the water level change resulting from the end of the ice-age can only account for about 350 feet. To be at 2200 feet this city must have been inundated by some other event. Or the academics are wrong about the ice-age too.
yep China... Oil would do it...

Swallowed by the earth perhaps? And I though Sumerians predated Egypt by serveral millennia.
