A few questions from a new convert

I picked this game up a while ago (can't remember when) but I just installed it last week and started playing right away with version 1.11 (which by what I have read is a very good thing).  after playing through a full game on small/normal and getting a conquest victory I have some experience with the game and have a few questions:

1.  when creating a new sovereign with the in game editor, why is Organized not on the list of traits?

2.  Trade routes - when I set up a trade route between town 1 and town 2 and the tiny caravan gets ganked by a bandit I still see the +10% trade bonus at both cities and my caravan limit is back to 3.  bug or design?

3.  why do females not have the option for some cloaks?

4.  when I research the Movement tech for the agility unit ability nothing happens.  I checked my current units, new units, NPCs and there was no change to the movement speed.  I researched Advanced Tracking and I got +1 movement to all current and newly created units but not NPCs.  I moused over the movement number and said that agility was finally giving me +10%.  what does the first agility ability do?  is it bugged?  Also advanced tracking was available to be researched again like other refined techs.  is it meant to be repeatable?

5.  What is the point of diplomatic capital.  it seems to me that DC just keeps increasing in the game world and never goes away.  there is only the option to trade it, but, never spend it.  Is this an idea that was not fully implemented or is there some aspect of it that I have not yet discovered?

6.  Is it just me or are resources exceptionally rare in this game?  I was playing on a large, normal map and I had 4 units with 4 movement each going in 4 different directions at one point and I spent 50 turns of walking (and battling spiders) and found only 1 ore mine...I also had all the resource techs researched from the adventure tree.  it was quite boring.  Is there something about resources and techs that I don't understand?  is there a way to increase the resource spawn chance?

7.  Advanced Archery (longbows) seems to come and go when I do research in warfare.  sometimes it is selectable and sometimes it is not.  the description has some extra text in it that says it is very rare, or rare.  when I actually select it to be learned I seem to have it all the time.  what does that random rarity mean?  it seems to be the only tech that does that.

I think that is all I have for now.  If I have more I will post them.

Also, I was reading up on the modding for this game and I have a very good understanding of XML.  I think I will give modding a try, maybe fix some of the things I posted about.

well, maybe these forums aren't very active so I will respond to myself...

1.  I fixed this with a mod.

2.  still don't understand this one.  also, while modding I found something about road levels... how do roads level up?

3.  fixed this with a mod.

4.  I think I can fix this with a mod but this is what I found out.  the first Movement tech changes the value of a player ability A_Agility from 0 to 1.  I have no idea what A_Agility does or what 0 or 1 mean.  during the game I saw no difference in unit movement.  Advanced Tracking, however, altered unit movement by 10%.  it used a different variable and I did see a change in game.  I would like to alter the Movement tech to change unit movement like Advanced Tracking, but, I am still not sure how to alter core things like technologies.  for other other mods I did, I just created new objects.

5.  I think I can fix this with a mod or two.  just make some units and buildings that require DC to be created.  still working on this one.

6.  I think I can fix this too with my own map.

7.  like 4 above, I think I can fix this with a mod, but, I still need to understand how modding works on a more advanced level.  need some more time to experiment.

1. organized was removed because it was considered OP. However they never got around to removing it from the prebuilt Sovs.

2. Not sure if this is intentional or a bug TBH.

3. Another thing that was never properly fixed. Certain races/genders couldn't wear certain things in the older versions and I guess its just been ignored for larger bug issues (crashes etc)

4. Usually techs like this only apply to new units you build.. not exactly sure on this one.

5. DC Is currency for trading(think of it as a gold substitute only usable in the trade menu).. thats it. Its a way for people who want to concentrate on the diplomatic part of the tech tree to have something to show for it.

6. This will change a bit in 1.2.. the current beta patches have some modifications as to how rare resources are.

7. A rare tech simply means its not available in the tech tree all the time.. you have a chance of it popping up it each game.(theres been some changes to this recently so i'm not sure the current direction that rare/common techs are taking at this point)

Fistalis has said it all.   One comment.  The diplo capital is an item that you can add to your trades with other sovs to try and get a treaty, etc.  In the trade window, it functions just like gold (money).

thanks for the responses.

I understand the main intent of DC, but, my observation is that there is no way to truly get rid of it.  there are no sinks for it like the other resources.  sure, I can trade it to that guy over there, but, it still exists in the game world.  tomorrow when I trade with him again, he still has what I traded to him yesterday.  eventually everyone in the world will have hundreds of DC and more is being produced every day and it becomes completely worthless (in a real situation anyway).

I am working on a design for some diplomatic upgrades which will make DC useful for making new units and buildings.

3:  To give us something to complain about   :)

4:  Refined movement mostly gives a small percentage movement bonus to your units.  After you research a few levels of it heroes who already move far because of their horses/packs/rings/amulets will move a lot faster, while slowpoke infantry don't gain as much.  Back around beta 1.19c I had my sovie and his  stack of buddies with a movement of 10 or 12.

6:  The adventure tech tree can reveal new resources.
