What do you think of Internet Explorer 9?

The final version of IE9 was released by Microsoft last night and I installed it on my Windows 7 machine. Only played with it for about 30 minutes so did not have time to explore some of the new stuff but one thing that really impressed me was the speed of the page loading. Wow! Fast or what.........Never been a fan of FF but Chrome has potential.........but now IE9 really sets the pace, speedwise.

Anybody else tried it yet?

Get the final version here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie/home

I like IE9.  But I also like Pale Moon and Chrome too.  I probably use Pale Moon most.

What do people use on their smart phones?  I just got an Android and am trying to figure out which one to install.

just got an "important" update notification for IE9, guess they figure it is ready for prime time.

I'm happy with IE8 and don't really see a reason to want to update. my homepage page loads in less than a second (blank) and my download speed is something like 1meg/sec. what's not to like.

the same thing there was not to like before.  It's the slowest browser in the known universe (not counting older versions of any current browsers)

I just uninstalled FF 3.6.16 with Revo and did a clean install of FF4. Then I added the status bar. So far so good. Lauch speed is back up there. Timed it actually. 1.5 sec.

The fact that IE is a malware and virus magnet?

okay, I'm stupid, but, so what, even being the slowest is pretty damn fast, yes.

from my experience; I have better control of my browsing experience in regards to security settings, cookie control and managing add-ons than with any other stand alone browser. and it's pretty damn fast.

IE the browser is? I always thought the main target was windows, the OS.

Yeah it's a known fact that IE has always been less secure than Firefox. Slower as well. However IE9 may or may not change that.

It's a known fact backed up by damn little evidence.

It's a known fact that 99% of the time, compromises are caused by stupid users.

I think that IE being singled out by hackers and whatnot as opposed to other browsers plus the fact that it does not perform as advertised speaks for itself. Damn little sure does act big.

It's singled out by hackers because people use it.  Most of the compromises on IE are outdated plugins.  People still use Java versions from 2005 and think they're secure, whee!  Same with Flash.

If MS actually had plugin updating capabilities in IE, they'd have a far more secure browser than anyone else.

So, unless you have some evidence to show me, you're just spouting popular nonsense.

Got the notice via Windows update.  Hid the update immediately.  Still using firefox 3.6.

I don't fear change, it's just that this change is unnecessary.

I can't stand IE9 because you can't disable ClearType. Text is pretty much unreadable on my screen. Shame that Impulse uses it to render everything.

IE still hasn't got the cool extensions that Firefox has.

Then explain why so many security updates were issued because IE had holes in it up the whazoo and Fire Fox did not. I have always used FF and not one bug has ever crossed my screen. Not one! Can IE users make the same claim. I think not.

I like the ad blocker in IE9. the security is better too, I've been using it more than FF now, it seems pretty fast and secure! :sun:
