Called in sick to play Elemental :)

I've called in sick to play the game!

Despite crashes every 30 minutes with the beta (ooh, impulse tells me there's a new one out, maybe a fix?) - the game is worth playing to me now.  Glad I came back to try it again.

You must be sick if you are this hooked already :)

Indeed, eh?  Buggy ass game, but it's giving me more fun than my other games - at least for now.

The newest (today) beta release seems to have fixed my constant oom crashes.  Just played around 2 hours without a crash.  Nice work Stardock!  Still a lot of refinement to go on the game, but it's getting there - it's a far cry from when I last played (September).

Check out the mod section of the forum for more content goodness, adds loads of quests, monsters, spells, etc.

I am sick, and yet I'm at school......

Just got my first OOM crash since the new patch.  6 hours of playing before a single crash (and on a large map) is a huge improvement in stability.  I recommend anyone who hasn't done so to go patch the game, *much* more stable.  As before, OOM crash happened on saving.  EDIT: I still get the Dx9 invalid call crash on alt-tabbing, but it's an infrequent crash.

@Agrippa Re: Mods - Oh, I plan to check them out.  Want to get the hang of the base game first.  It's still kind of easy - have everything set to extreme (both the world and the AI), and I'm far in the lead.  That +1 prestige spell really really helps spamming settlements and getting them productive fast.

Lol. You know, every time I play FfH, it makes me want to play Elemental. But when I play Elemental, all I want to play is FfH. I could elaborate on what this means, but I won't. I do think that it's promising for Elemental, though.

I think that it means that there aren't any really good Fantasy TBS games to play, especially not recent ones.

You want the best of both.  Awesome preset units and custom designed ones.  Good story lore but the ability to create your own race and nation.  Tiered gameplay but solid linear progression.  Endless paradoxes, some people just are never satisfied.

Pretty much. I want compelling lore, massively different factions, strategic considerations, and fun mechanics like FfH2, with the tactical combat, better spell system, and unique weapons of Elemental. The fact that Kael is on the job is the main thing that makes me hopeful for the series.

Edit: I want it all, that's not too much to ask, right?

The two games are polar opposites although EWoM did try to include some of those features like the diplomacy tree units.

Yeah, they're quite different, but I wouldn't say polar opposites, exactly. The polar opposite of FfH2 would be me sitting in the real world, not fighting with anyone, and not having much fun. Sounds suspiciously like most of my Mondays.

It would be if there was a Sandbox version. Unfortunatly they only have Linier campaigns. At lest the one I have. I did not get the Expansions
