The Offical "Whadid you git for Christmas?" Mega-Thread

Ho ho ho...

With Christmas come and gone, it's time reflect on the most important and oft-forgotten part of the holdiday: the booty.  More specifically: what did you get for Christmas?

I got several gifts including, but not limited to:

Took all of one game before we resorted to restricting the words to the dirtiest, sexual deprived words we knew.

A gift from me for myself.  I always buy the best presents!

Learning more about James Cameron has simply made me wish I was smarter, but I guess we can't all be Artists/Film Makers/Engineers/Mathematicians/Drivers/Aqua-naughts/Gun Nuts/Rich.

Because I smell, I guess.  Merry Christmas?

So, what did your haul include?

I got several things but the two gifts I like most are:

1. the book Valley Forge by Newt Gingrich and William Firstchen

2. an xbox Kinect which BTW is absolutely kick butt...even if the games are a bit wanting

Oh, and also a copy of Fallout 3.

I got:

  • Super Mario All-stars - The soundtrack is probably the highlight, since we never get those here in the States, but still, it's fun to get the chance to play the classics
  • Rocket Boys - If you've ever seen the movie October Sky, this is the book it was based off. If you haven't seen October Sky, you should do so right now because it's an amazing movie.
  • A couple Best Buy gift cards. I used them and some I've been holding on to a while to get GoldenEye 007 for the Wii and the original Halo. GoldenEye because the original was an awesome game (and so far the remake is too) and Halo because I never owned the original Xbox, and it was only $10.
  • A bunch of money. I'm not really sure what to do with it yet. My iPod was stolen a couple months ago and I've been thinking about replacing it, either with another iPod, a Zune, something. The 3DS should also be coming out in a little over 2 months or so (I hope), and while I set aside money for it after E3:P depending on its price and the release lineup there might be a lot of games I want to get. And then of course, since I'm a student, there are all those ridiculously overpriced textbooks I'll likely be needing in a couple weeks.

Of the gifts I recieved, my faves are the iRobot Roomba, 2 Blu-rays sets - The Austin Powers Collection and the BBC 4 disc "Life" Collection, and a bottle of Crown XR.

I'm having a blast watching the Roomba go in circles while sipping a couple shots.

BTW - Little Gus joins our other dog named Jasbinder (aka Jazz), a Bassett Hound/Sheepdog cross. Not classically handsome, but real funky.

For Christmas I got myself a gamepad... last month.

I decided giving was better than receiving, so I gave all my money to the bank.

Oo, happiness juice::beer:

I got a cookbook and a breadmaker from my parents, much to the delight of my friends. My little brother also gave me the Scott Pilgrim movie on DVD because I happened to mention it once and he really wanted to see it. So much so that he made me open it a month early, in fact. Fortunately for him, it was entertaining enough to overlook his obviously selfish gifting practices. ^_^

It was also my birthday a few days ago, so there was a second batch of presents. This time I got a glass teapot with infuser thingy and a canister of flowery tea balls, and a copy of the new Golden Sun game. Now I have an excuse to play through the first two again! \o/

I got nothing myself as I live far, far from home.  Not really anything I wanted, anyways, except, maybe an IPhone, but those are too damn pricey.

I did buy myself a couple budget priced games though :D

Edit: Good friends and family. That is priceless. <3 To you all.

And a Christmas dinner hosted by my sister and shared with my parents, an aunt, a niece and a nephew

I agree with you. The only reason I do not get gifts anymore is because my kids and family live 5000km away and my wife lives almost 12000km away as the bird flies. Its a lonely Christmas but I still have much to be thankful for. Like some have said I bought myself a gift. Got me a cool watch.
