(1.09w) What dictates Hero level for notable locations

From my naive view it seems that my hero level (as compared to notable locations) just rises at random.  Can anyone dispel the mystery?  Also, is there anyway to check this without mousing over a notable location?  Thanks.

Its related to some some Adventure tech for Kingdoms and Domination tech for Empire. I can't tell you more without referencing this thread as I need to tab out ingame to check it out anyways because the descriptions are ridiculous. I recommend bookmarking it until someone gets around to typing up a better description.

Thanks for the link.. i never did figure out which techs actually raise it in all the time i've put into this game. Something that should be mentioned in the text of the particular techs IMHO.

Please this, people keep mentioning it again over and over DEREK please please please fix this it should take 15 - 20 minutes and save a lot of stress.
