Site Questions

Hi all

I haven't been around much so I'm kind of lost with all the changes with the new site format.

I'm trying to update some info on my old WC Personal site.

When I go to the " account " tab I find the area to update your personal information, but seems some of the items that I could access on the old WC site are missing.

There use to be a space to type in and "name" your WC personal site and now I can't find any place to change that...also at the bottom of the WC personal site there was also a spot titled " links " where you could add links to other sites, favorite sites  etc.  That's also missing.

The WC Guest books were removed before the new site was put into action. I have searched everywhere for a way to change these items and I have found nothing.

Also, depending on what link you click on to view " skins by Fairyy~ " Sometimes I'm listed as a female then other times as a male. I see no place to change this either.

Anyone have some info about this they can share ?

Is there a way to access the old WC Site and the old format of the WC Personal Sites so I can change these things ?

Thanks

Karen ( Fairyy~)

I've looked and looked, too, but there doesn't seem to be a way to access any of what you're looking for.

Might need to consult your GP ...;)

Me too, and some others too. I don't think fixing that (or anything to do with personal sites) is very high on the list of things to fix.

Thanks Sviz and Xiandi - at least now I know to stop looking. WC Personal sites have never been top priority...the majority of the members of the site are male. I'd at least like to be the correct gender...

Personally I'm hanging out for some more fundamental improvements to the Admin/file interface, but I too would look forward to features/functionality added to the Personal Pages...

Hi Jafo, long time no see.

I don't think we will see anything added to the WC personal pages anytime soon....I don't think the majority of the members even bother to fill out the info. They are useful to the skinners.....and serve a purpose when a skin or wall doesn't make it into a gallery. Its a place to hang your 'hat ' I use to like the ' guest book ' feature and thought they were just being disabled temporarily.  Anyway...I thought maybe there was a link to access the old site like when members had upload problems there was still a link to the old upload pages.

Hi Fairyy~ ... Jeez ... I've not seen you in the forums in centuries. Where you been hidin'? I've missed your rainies and all that other good stuff you put up here. In a way you're the one who provided me with the ... he he ... skinning addiction. I do sysmetrix now too. Tried doing walls but I crashed and burned. Come back and play more often.

One issue about the Personal Pages is that they really aren't used much.  I tried years ago to show people how valuable they could be at marketing both themselves and the site, but in all honesty it was met with a big "meh".

Right now we kinda have two spaces.

For examples:

http://islanddog.wincustomize.com/

https://www.wincustomize.com/users/673228/island%20dog

Personally, I'd like to see both of them combined.  However, since they aren't in demand it's harder for me to make a case for development time for them, when there is still more important stuff that needs to be addressed first.

That's okay. I'm listed as none. Where it says gender...no information available ... I could have sworn I filled that out. :\

This is a thread for site issues. Got this while commenting on a Xion skin. Hit submit and this is what I got. The second screenshot came first.

Second time this has happened.

When Tailsgirl started shit, and the comments section was pulled off our pages, people started visiting the sites less. That and the fact that the address book and links disappeared with the new site.

When people can't figure out how to get to someones site, it's  for sure not to get traffic.

Put the comments back so people can say hi and bring the address book back and I'll bet they will see twice as much traffic.

By the way, why did everyone have to suffer because of her dumb ass stunt?

If I remember correctly what Jafo explained at the time, there wasn't any other way to delete her comments. Also, the comments section was malfunctioning showing comments not in chronological order....again, if I remember correctly.

The site is now evil squiggle proof! mwahahahahahaha!

Well, on October 5, 2009 there was a server restore that brought the comments back up (see this post)...the offending ones were gone at that time.

I remember the squigglies.  BTW - Nice effect with the magnifying glass.

good to see you back fairyy~.... been awhile...  :D

I'm a bloke half the time too....  ;P

The comments were a mess long before TG's ran amok...... they were all out of order...... then deleted...started afresh...then all out of whack again...... she just tried to remove some unpleasant ones by adding more comments trying to push them off the page.... but it didn't work like that as she found out.... a simple delete would have circumvented all that drama..... so maybe that feature should be built in if they are ever revisited....

I'd just love a delete button on skins returned....  X-(

hope you stick around a bit fairyy~...  love to see some more rainies too...

So would I. Welcome home Fairyy~

When the WC Personal page was first introduced you had to activate it yourself and set it up....I think that was a problem for some members, I'm not sure if that has changed since then. Does a new member automatically have a WC personal site ?  I suppose if your not into skinning you wouldnt really care about it.  If its not on the agenda to be fixed them they may as well just delete them. I hate something I can't access to fix information that maybe outdated. A lot of us used the WC personal page guest book to communicate to one another. The " email user " link may or may not work or ends up in the members spam mail. I found it a convenient way to answer question someone might have about a skin or in general. I don't log into the forum that often anymore and when I did I would find messages left by members wanting help with something or asking me to help make a skin to go with a WB. But the messages were so old the skin they were working on had come and gone. I hope no one thought I just ignored a request. Anyway, thank you for the reply I. D. much appreciated.

Thank you all for your comments.

Glad to see I gave you the skinning bug Uvah. I see your still making Rainlendars. Its nice to expand your interests.

Hi there Sydney, glad I'm not the only half-male half-female. Its been so long since I made any Rainies or Widgets I'm not sure I remember how. I kinda lost interest in skinning when I heard they were not going to offer the " Rightclick " program and that would mean the RightClick gallery will be gone. Most of my inspiration always came from a simple RightClick skin.  But you never know Sydney....I used to enjoy just making a simple screenshot and 'Po just resurrected my Evil Squiggle.

Take care and Happy Holidays all.

CG1... you're right. There was a briefly restored thing, but it poofed so fast I didn't even get a chance to blink.

Is a shame... some folks wrote stuff I'd have like to have kept...Ed, Mark, Curtis, Az....  but I guess it's gone not to return.  :'(

Gotta take the bad with the worse, I guess.

You still have the sexiest squiggle on WC... ;)

Tailsgirl's 'dumb-ass stunt' demonstrated the inherent fault of the PP comment system as it then was so the only functional solution was to remove them fully....;)

I rather enjoyed the personal page part of WC, but I can certainly understand where focusing attention on fixing other parts of the site would be much more important that bringing back something that was scraped due to lack of interest.
