Goal - Drag morpheas768 back into Demigod

Goal - Drag morpheas768 back into Demigod

So - last I checked, good ol morph swore off DG and moved over to LoL.  I'm not sure if he's still watching the demigod boards (he was in a few threads at least a month or so ago).  My new goal is to get him playing dg again.

If I recollect, he quit dg sometime ago.  We all know the frustration you can get by 1) playing pugs 2) trying to play with your friends.  I think the last game I had with morph was him on a team of newer players vs me on a team of newer players and his team getting destroyed (not any fault of morph). I got the impression that the majority of his games were him getting destroyed (tier 1 player) as a result of so so teammates because the option, at the time, was to pug with whoever or not play.  Anyway, I know some folks can be stubborn, but I think we have enough of a small community to support him and get him back in the ranks, playing good games.  Anyone else support this campaign?

Ok, First of all, I wanna say hello to everyone here, (except for Ninki who kinda hates me O:) just kidding...).

Secondly, I have to admit that I am really flattered by this whole thread, and how you people even still remember me  After all, I was just a name in the game, you never actually met me. Oh wait....there's vent too |-) Oh well, scratch that one

Now, since you all took the time to write here, (and pacov who started this thread), I am gonna take the time and write as well. As some of you may have noticed, I still remain in the Demigod forums, which is obviously my home forum, and post in some forum games, as well as in the "Chatroom".

So, to begin, I wanna say "OMGWTFBBQ!! pacov is a Moderator :D " but I kinda saw that one coming. In fact, pacov could very well be CEO of Stardock, he he ;P (J/K). But I didnt know about it, so I was kinda surprised.

Now, many of you dont know the real reasons why I quit Demigod, so I feel like I owe you an explanation:

I dont know if I ever was as great a player as you'd have me be, but it was true that I absolutely loved Demigod (as I have said so many times). Demigod was the best experience I have ever had in online gaming, DESPITE all its perks and issues :smitten:

I remember that I was so addicted to the game, that I would wake up (yes I slept sometimes, I dunno why ;P ), and all I wanted to do was to play Demigod. I didnt care at all about RL stuff, and neglected most of my RL obligations.

At the start of each day, I would be all like "time to crush these pathetic excuses of gamers in Demigod he he }:) ". All in all, I was competitive to the bone, and my moto was "win at all costs", (not by cheating though), so I guess that made me slightly better than a common average Joe player.

"But why did you quit morpheas? It was because of the all the frustration of the game, wasnt it?"

Well, yes and no. Yes, because I was getting frustrated with the game each and every single day, but that alone didnt make me quit a long time before I did, and it should have, because Demigod was frustrating, and even infuriating from day 1 of release.

In fact, I was thinking about quitting, a looong time ago (at least 6 months), before I did. Some of you may know that I tried to quit a few months before I eventually quit for good, but failed to do so. This was because I decided to quit playing Demigod online, but still played some games vs AI.

But that didnt help at all, because I still remained addicted to the game, feeding my appetite by crushing the AI in Single Player (1v5 CAN be challenging). So the all-persistent NinkiCZ, convinced me (it didnt require much effort), to come back into the game. I was only able to quit for 1 month, and after that I was back in business B)

But the fact of the matter, was not only that the game was getting more and more frustrating (at least for me), because more and more players would learn how to desync games, but I was started to get bored of the game.

Yes, the game had gotten old, and I was tired of the same old tactics, and one and only strategy to win, you know, same stuff over and over again. Lock my portal, go get theirs, have my Oak lock their portal while I distract them, get the other portal, Win.

Basically I got bored of the game, and I found myself many times, playing for absolutely no reason. Not because I felt like playing, but because I felt I HAD to play. Like I was obliged to play, wanting to somehow support the game, and not let down Ninki, Orcun, and the old GM clan :|

But eventually, I quit (it was inevitable he he ), because I just lost all interest in the game, and really wanted to get out of my addiction, and move on with my life. I was still willing to play competitively other online games, IF I found something as good as Demigod.

But I didnt, so now I am a casual gamer. Since I quit Demigod, I have played Supreme Commander FA, DoW I & II, Borderlands, HoN, LoL, and few other free online games like Battle of the Immortals for example.

I finally settled with LoL, because its the second best option for me, concerning online games. Now I play LoL just for the fun of it, although I still have that "spark" of competitiveness ;)

I have to say, that I have started to get bored of LoL by now, playing for over 6 months, so maybe I'll be looking for something else to waste my time, soon enough :P

Of course, I HAVE played numerous games in single player, ever since I quit Demigod, but you all know that nothing is better than playing online vs other people, and not vs some dumb AI or a campaign/story that you will definitely finish.

"Morpheas, stop all this pestering blah blah, and answer the question: Are you coming back or not? XO "

Pacov's timing couldnt be better. I started thinking recently to re-install Demigod, and come back, even temporarily, but not in the competitive scene, just playing casual, as a pug player. Yes, I miss Demigod, and yes I miss yelling to my team mates to lock that damn portal, or simply to stop feeding, but I dont wanna go through the same thing, only to quit again.

Its not a simple "yes or no" answer, because I do miss Demigod, although that has probably has something to do with getting bored of LoL.

My answer is: I will think about it, and I would advise you not to bother trying to convince me, because I WILL be unaffected by your comments. Sorry :P

"So why the HELL did you make this really LONG freaking post I'm reading for the last 5 minutes or so?? GTFO morpheas :typo: "

Well, if you dont like reading long posts, then dont do so :P I just felt that I had to be honest, and not leave any questions about why I quit Demigod, about this and that, etc, since the OP took the time to make this thread, and some people bothered to post here.

To sum up, I wanna say that in spite all of its issues, playing Demigod was a great online experience for me, and I wanna thank all of you for making it better than it actually was, and making me a part of a community I will never forget :)

well.. even though you said it won't matter to say something..

the scene has really changed.  It's not "oak / ere / beast" every single game.. or "ere / beast / rook" or w/e.  A LOT of weird matchups.. like qot / beast / reg mirror.. or aa reg / speed rook vs da / tower rook in the competitive scene.  QoT has actually seen some goood play in high level games.  I got tired of the same exact combos and people wanting to be the strongest character every single time as well.. but now that there is great variety it's maintaining its fun for me at least.

That, and a few other forum games, like the "I would give you karma, but...", "banned forum game 2", "I blame Ryat", and of course the infamous "Chatroom".

End of Orcun-'s quote

I probably wont, and I will try really hard to stop myself from reaching that dusted Demigod disc in my bookcase any time I feel like coming back ;)

I think he resigned from hardcore gaming for a while, at least that's my impression. I see him here and then in LoL.

If you mean being competitive as hell in online games, then yes, I HAVE resigned from hardcore gaming, at least for the time being.

^Same problem as you, might I add. Rammus, Rammus and only Rammus.
End of OMG_NinkiCZ's quote

I dont know about Zen God, but I play Rammus 90% of the time, because he's my favorite (obviously), I am at my best with Rammus, and....thats just my style, mate :P

If you noticed, I used to play Erebus mostly in Demigod. I like getting as good as possible with a character, and once I learn to play him/her well enough, I dont wanna play anything else.

But I do play many other champs when I dont play Rammus, mostly trying every champ, and purchasing those I really like.

Quoting OMG_Zalera, reply 9
Eh he said he was taking a break from LoL to. He posts dailty in the "The Chatroom" thread in off-topic you could catch him there. Though I doubt he will come back.
End of OMG_Zalera's quote

I took a break from LoL, and I came back, but I dont play every day, ALL the time, like you do :P Besides, I am looking for something else to substitute LoL atm.

Quoting Thundercles, reply 10
Sorry, gotta agree with McShane on this one.  In fact, if you guys find Morph, ask him the secret on breaking the addiction to this game.  I wanna get on with my life... or just start playing DoW II with Hedgie, not sure which.
End of Thundercles's quote

Some people just get stuck with 1 game, and dont wanna play anything else. Others (like me), play a game for some time, and then they move on to other games.

But of course everyone can press the magic Uninstall button, and install a different game. Its just a matter of "suck it, Bi@tch" |-)

Doing it cold turkey, and swearing off to never play Demigod, is the best way, but leaving a slight chance to come back some time in the future, of course.

Its not a secret, its just a matter if you WANT to break your addiction.

Quoting Thundercles, reply 13

I accidentally uninstalled Impulse first last time I tried to go cold turkey and you need Impulse to uninstall Demigod.  So... I tried reinstalling Impulse but it won't let me... so, Demigod will remain on my computer unless I format my hard drive.
End of Thundercles's quote

Making excuses not to stop playing, are we? ;)

Quoting awuffleablehedgie, reply 14
Just delete it from your hard drive

Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod
End of awuffleablehedgie's quote

Simple as that.

Quoting Zen_God, reply 15

the best way, is to find something else that is just as addictive

Glad you chimed in over here, morph!  Well, not to go very far in trying to tempt you, but I'll add this one thing - we are getting a lot of high level games in lately on the vent against each other.  The upcoming tourney has us playing several DG combinations that are not generally the norm.  This has made the game a little more fresh lately and results in some new strategies here and there.  So, if you did decide to jump back in, I'd say there are pretty great odds that you'd be able to enjoy some relatively frustration free games with us (well, once you scrape a little of the rust off that occurs when you haven't played for a bit).

I don't have too much to say on the topic other than its good to hear from you again and hope to catch online in DG at some point again.  Glad you are enjoying yourself in LoL though.

4nana and I enjoy tearing people apart with queen. It is pretty ridiculous how good some people have gotten at weird builds. I play speed rook regularly and Orcun has a fantastic ice TB. Recently a reg QoT defeated an Oak Reg in a super uberl33t game. So weird shit is happening its a blast.

The game has really changed in skill level. More people know how to play the game now with strategy, so you won't be able to just bash with "op" characters. Pug games are more fun now to play if you keep playing casual. High lvl games don't leave much room for mistakes anymore... And the combo renz mcshane orcun is not the fearful unbeatable combo anymore. This game has evolved a lot, and I see a lot of old players stumbling in the beginning when they come back.

In pug games "high towers" are the norm now. It seems to balance the characters more because weaker characters have more time to catch up to  blood UB rook etc before all towers are gone, for example

I still prefer normal towers, but high tower games are interesting too.

Yeah - I contributed to that a bit when I went on my non-stop pug rand assassin games.  Always high towers.

But then I tried a random assassin game on high towers with all tier 1 players... freaking game lasted nearly 2 hours.  Excruciating.  Anyway, love them in pugs - hate them in high level games.

well if demigod is never advancing or a demigod 2 won't come out I guess you're right. But demigod is just superior (art look, gameplay) to all other games and probably too good for most people's systems and internet connections. Well, thanks for filling me in, and I will keep that in mind, in case I decide to jump back in DG.

The connection issues, lag, and generally the frustration that DG always has, is a BIG wall that is preventing me from finding my way back into the game, and as you can understand, it is very hard for me to take this decision.

Of course, I can always just install Demigod, and see whats what, but I honestly dont expect much :|

Especially since I play LoL for such a long time, it would be kinda disappointing for me to get back into DG. Ok, LoL is definitely NOT perfect, and is not always stable, (there are no online games that are perfectly stable, even Blizzard's games have some issues), but 90% of the time it works fine, considering that your own connection is stable of course, and there is practically no lag, most of the time.

Most of you might know it, but lagging in Demigod which is a P2P game, is totally different than lagging in LoL, and any other dedicated server games.

If you're lagging in LoL, then you're the only one that's getting the lag, and its pretty horrible, as the game can pretty much freeze for you, during the lagging period. This can easily kill you. But this happens rarely (at least for me), so I am happy with that.

If you're lagging in DG, you're probably causing everyone connected to that game to lag as well, because its a P2P game, and well...there's not much to say about that. Also, lag in Demigod isnt really bad, its just making the game slow and stuttering, but it lasts throughout the whole game, making it really frustrating.

I am certainly NOT comparing the 2 games, I am simply stating 1 of the reasons why I am so hesitant to come back :typo:

As for being rusty, since I havent played in like 7 months or so, I will not only be rusty, but you can consider me almost a complete noob, IF I decide to come back :P
