[1.09e.49] Unrewarding quests

In my most recent game the dragon (Sarog?) did not join me at the conclusion of the quest.

In the same game I had the Destiny's Tutor quest which still doesn't work.

Level 2 quests were potion quests.

Level 1 quests yielded small amounts of gold.

Shouldn't all quests be more rewarding than just stopping on a goodie hut? I only even tried the level 2 quests this game because I wanted to see if new quests were added. Normally I don't bother. I will however always go out of my way for level 2 goodie huts. The dragon quest used to be overpowered for the effort, but now with it broken too, I may just stop doing quests altogether.

when doing the dragon quest, as well as the rat quest, and virtually any quest, make absolutely certain that the unit which starts the quest is the leader of the group for each and every piece of the quest, if anyone else does even a part of it, or takes over command, it is probably going to fail, even if you trade whatever returnable item you recieve, the rat corpse, the dragon egg, whatever, back to the person who originated the quest and let them complete it. infact its probably a good idea to not alter the group in any way once you begin a quest. its not usually a probablem with the rat quest, being you have so few units, though its gotten me once or twice, but i run into trouble with the dragon one all the time as quest points pop up all over and i have a bunch of champions by then, etc.

i whole heartedly agree on quests being more involved. i would like to see the goody huts altered. 800 gilder lying around with no one protecting it. a ring of such and such sitting in a pool with no guards or defences, and all that is required of you it to move someone over it. i can usually get around 8000 gold and various power ups from undefended goody huts half of which are within my borders so i don't even have to work to get em.

I can confirm this.

The Dragon quest is especially depressing, since you have a long journey to undertake and a fight that is at least al little challenging - you're looking forward to the reward - a powerful and great dragon, and then he doesn't show up even the text says he joined and the quest is finished.

VERY frustrating.

EDIT: I'm using the current Version 1.09e btw.

Thank you.  I wondered about the inconsistency of quest results.  Sometimes they work  -sometime they they don't.  Now I understand why.   You are very clever to have noticed something like that!  Thanks.

For Sarog you can alter the party along the wway and remember that only your sovreign can pick up the reward (so I suggest you send them in alone to get the quest and to get the reward, this worked for me). Also some seem to think if you save and load after getting the quest then it breaks.
