Demigod, is that fun as a single player?  I know it had multiplayer issues and all.  It can be played one player, right?  I could probably go look that up, but you know...lazy...

It can be played in SP, which is more or less MP with bots which follows the same rules as any other game that can be described as "like MP but with bots", especially concerning AI. You play over a series of Arenas to determine who becomes the next god, so your goal is to win the tournament. You don't need to win every arena, it uses a combination of points earned if I remember correctly.

It can.  Although, mp is much better play.  There aren't a lot of ppl left playing tho, so it can take a little bit to get a game going.

I play it LAN with my brother all the time.

I also play this LAN with usually 2, 3 or 4 friends.  It's really fun that way.  I also like it single-player.

If you are going to play it single player make sure you get the AI improvement mod from the MOD section of the Demigod boards.  Unfortunately it's only for skirmishes, not the Tournament but still makes for a more fun game.

Demigod can be really fun in singleplayer although the AI will never match a human opponent. I'd say its worth it for 6 bucks. Demigod could have been a smash hit if it wasn't for some technical issues with multiplayer at launch.

I'm pretty much retarded, so I don't need a super challenge.  Seriously, I've played these games for 20 years and I still suck at them, I love and enjoy them, but my simple mind has never become good at them.  Thanks for the replies, guys.

Indeed.  If you do pick it up for single player, I'm sure you'll get $6 worth of fun out of it.  If you check the demigod forums, there is an AI mod that makes (without cheating) the ai MUCH more intelligent.  The mod is called AI skirmish and I recommend giving it a go.  http://forums.demigodthegame.com/396054

looks like the dg sale really helped.  19 noob or player vs ai games going on currently.  Hopefully all these people see the good side of demigod and stick around! :)

I don't think you shoud buy A copy; I think you should buy 2 and get a friend to play as well. The connectivity issues aren't bad enough to ruin the game IMHO.... many of the problems are usually because 1 or 2 players have a crappy net provider.

I play games up to 3v3 with pings up to 450. NO PROBLEMS unless there is a player who joins that has slow upload speed or their CPU or graphics card struggle and slows their REFRESH RATE. If one player is lagging due to these issues, then they lag all players in a peer2peer connection Demigod uses.

Demigod, is that like League of legends/ Heroes of Newerth/ dota/ all the others like that?  I like that style.

Yes it is. In demigod you control a single hero. A General or an assasin. Generals have minions too (but not many)... It's slower and more strategical than those other games you list; there's less need for practiced reflex combos of the gamer for instakills and the like, but requires more brains, like chess, to master.

By far the best RTS I've played.
