TEC Cargo Holds

Now I was Playing as the TEC and I noticed that the Trade ships can hold more cargo by a certain percentage with the proper research.Now my question is How much more effective is doing this than not?Does the research give back a substantial increase of credits in the trade route? Also Does the placement of the trade routes within a system have an effect on how much income you gain?The it boils down to the fact That I like to Econ Boom,and if Putting research in those branches help it could better help me in my Gameplay.

Thank you for your time.

The 8% increased in cargo size translates into an 8% increase in trade/refinery income.  Whether or not this is cost-effective depends on how many trade ports you have and what your current logistics situation is.

The break-even point is usually about 19 trade ports.  Once you've built your 19th trade port, this investment makes sense.  Of course, you should always prioritize expanding your existing trade route, but that's not always an option.  Sometimes the thorny issue of logistics also rears its head; if you don't have logistics space for new trade ports, but you still have a considerable network (say 10 or more) this upgrade is still viable because it won't use those logistics spaces.

Expanding the trade line in not really "branching" as this may break the line. Hover the mouse over the credits to see the line and the longer it gets the more income per port. Always scout ahead to see if a trade port route can be expanded in that direction without breaking the trade line. Use star bases with trade option to continue a line through a wormhole or star or dead spot.

is it worth it to not put a trade port at a certain planet just to avoid breaking the trade route?

Yes. On most occasions, yes.

what if i put multiple trade ports at that plated that brake the line ?? i normaly just span trade ports everywhere after i get all 16 labs

I would say no, becuase a trade route is the longest unbroken chain of trade ports. Adding another trade port in a different gravwell will not break the existing chain. I also thought that there were many trade links, but it just highlighted the longest one.

You can accidentally shorten your chain by placing a new port.  Suppose we have this planet layout:

A   == B ==  C
||                  ||
D   == E ==  F

If you put trade ports on every planet, your longest route is halfway around the circle (3 jumps).  However, if we remove a trade port from B, our longest route is now A-D-E-F-C, a superior 4 jumps.  So yes, you can accidentally reduce your trade length by placing ports on new planets.

THere was a picture of post game statistics... where it showed income of this guys empire...

about 1/2 way though the game, his income dropped to 66% or so of what it was previously because he put a tradeport in a bad location.

needless to say, about 5 min later he destroyed the tradeport, and we see his income rise back up.

Fair enough I thought the game handled it differently.
