Fresh Impulse install of vanilla Sins here, sans expansions, gives a minidump and crash immidiately after the window launches. :/

Anybody else have a similar issue? Halp?

Have you gotten it to work before on that computer, or was it new to Sins? Some basic specs might help too.

Never had a problem with Sins on this computer before the current patch. Or with Entrenchment/Diplomacy; it's just vanilla Sins that crashes. :/

As for relevant specs, baboom:

WinXP SP3
AMD dual core, 2.0 GHz
3.0 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8800GT

Bump.

Got in touch with IC support a while ago, but they've yet to offer any advice. Here's hoping someone in the community can help me out.

will, a couple of questions that could help us help you

1 what version of the nvidia driver are you useing?

2 did you try a verify the sins installation(hold down a shift key when you rightmouse click on sins in impulse)?

Thanks for the response. Display driver version is 6.14.12.5896, which looks to be the most recent for my card.

I've verified and uninstall/reinstall/reverify Sins several times, but whatever the problem is it's not a corrupt installation. :/

will, does the sins dev.exe run ?

I am using the same driver version in my nvidia systems and do not have the problem.

also is the installation path the default for sins?

and is the default language for windows 'english'?

Default language is english, and Sins is installed to the default path, yes.

I hadn't thought of using the dev .exe. I'll go track that down and give it a try.

will, the dev.exe's are in the SAME folder as the sins, entrenchment & diplomacy exe's just with DEV.exe at the end of the name.

hope this helps
