AI is no AI

First off, I"m a big fan of Stardock.

I'm a real fan of Gal Civ, but Stardock really let me down on this one. This game is the most un-balanced strategy game I"v ever played. Gal Civ was pretty well balanced.

On this game, you start an Elemental game on Beginner and you get attacked/taken over...WTF. The AI/strategy is supposed to scale per the difficulty?...WTF I've not seen any scaling. I"ve tried to play this game over, and over and over again on different levels of difficulty but the same lame BS happens. The enemy is more powerful and takes over my city...WTF. There's NO AI...just SAI. Apparently, there's no intelligence built into the game AI what so ever. You start a game on average difficulty, you get attacked appx. 10 minutes into the game. You start a game on Beginner, you get attacked approx. 10 minutes into the game. The end result is the same...the enemy is at least 20% tougher than you no matter what level. Resources are not easier to find either on the easier levels...see what I mean?

I've played it for the last time (until they patch this B)

Damn Stardock,  you were the only turn-based guys out there. It's a shame...truly a shame. Maybe you'll patch it...I hope so.

Burn baby burn...

Huh?  You find the AI too difficult?  I think you may be in the minority... are you actually trying to expand or fight back?

I don't get what the complaint is... that you get attacked by the AI?   What should it do?  Sit there docilely while you trounce it?  Or that you just can't seem to get ahead of it?

If the latter, what have you tried?  In my experience the AI is too easy to defeat...

I personally like the spell infernal, especially if you have a fire shard or two. One shots entire groups of monsters with one cast.

You need to build stuff & move pieces.

This game is incredibly easy right now, i have no idea what you're talking about.

If you keep lossing then changer how you play. A good idea is the push research early.

same here, only played on "normal" so far, but well the AI has way more troops and everything, but they are cannon fodder, especially to my archers :)

Using only heros, with bows and magic, on hardest difficulty, while building only one city i was able to win. :) Not sure what your having issues with, build more archers and i think youll be fine.

There is no reason you should be finding this AI remotely difficult even on the hardest level. Study the game mechanics and develop a strategy. Check the forums if you need help.

Probably you want to have three to five cities up quickly, then in the military tree be able to make squads of four, then have 2 or 3 equipment upgrades, and fortifications never hurt, then make sure you have at least a couple squads of guards in the cities getting hit with AI spam (and at least one squad of peasants elsewhere), and then you can sit back and look at the line of attackers as an easy stream of gold revenue.  All of the pop-up windows get annoying whenever you get attacked, which can be several times a turn, but that's all.  If you can defend your cities okay, you can then take your sovereign and some elemental giants into enemy territory and start knocking down your opponents economy.  That would be a fairly typical game for me.

I also notice that if your economy is weak at the start, multiple AIs tend to gang up on you.

That said, dealing with AI spam early on does kind of cut into any adventuring and exploratory aspect of the game as you have to focus on military victory.  I wish on easier difficulty levels the AI might be a little more passive and focus on building up and researching.
