Low level magic does not seem to be of any use. Cast flame dart 17 times with a 100% miss rate at the weakest creatures you will encounter.Stopped playing after that but does it get better later? do you need to 100% beef up int and essence?
I was able to deal damage with lightning strike. Did not try flame dart.
However, the "fix" that changed teleport/blink from 5 mana to 15 is unacceptable. Perhaps this is necessary in the multiplayer games for some reason. But for solo play, this "fix" makes it impossible to use teleport. The sov only starts out with 12 mana and must use 10 every so often on increasing the food supply, not to mention casting spells actually defending the realm. If you imbue a champion, the champion only starts out with 3 or 4 mana, and your sov drops to 9 or back to 12 or whatever. Could someone explain to me why there is any teleport spell at all if you can never use it.

I have to say I really dominate that game against the (normal) AI , BECAUSE of magic ,,,
because of that +50% mana town improvement, which SEEMS to have a bug, AS IT COULD BE BUILT in every town ... magic is terrible strong (have some children with more than 1500 mana points and they regenerate +8 mana every battle round ???)
with 6 characters after the first battleround GAME OVER for most opponent armies, when I attack !
... this shows that an INITIATIVE roll for every unit is needed !
... that shrine should be buildable only ONCE
... some units should have MAGIC resistance
BUGFIX needed, since last update, sometime ALL MANA is lost after a battle.
At the moment I have two armies only with characters and one DRAGON 
(each army has around 3000 mana) ... no chance for the AI ... only have explored 30% of the map, but already have won ...
so lot of tweaking needed !
Obviously I'm doing something wrong. How do you get more than 20 mana, much less 1000+?
