So what you end up having is troops with the latest equipment because they're like 20 gold or so decked out and a sovereign in rags.

That's what I don't get, either.

If a sword costs say 3 metal and assorted other things to produce and I get nothing but "a sword" in the shop, then why should I have to pay outrageous sums to get the same sword for the sovereign?

If the shop sword was noticeable better, maybe, but even a branch, crudely chopped off a tree costs more than building an entire city. Hello?

If the city can produce troops with metal weapons then it should be able to produce the same items for your champions at the same cost.

Also the "Stop whining" posts are terrible. They want criticism so people are giving it to them. How about you stop being fanboys?
End of solidsmooky's quote

Just stop whining about people whining about people whining about the game.

Now my head hurts.

This was said like million times already, but it seems with prices INCREASED in patches, it should be said few million times more.

Should not be too hard to mod it tho, I'll probably do some balancing myself before starting new game for .08

So they fixed one of the major flaws of the game (the suicide sovereigns) and zillions of minor bugs but nothing about the other major flaws... Sigh... it is good thing the Civ 5 is coming in couple of days.

Next week we anticipate releasing v1.09 which will continue to address issues that were not found in the initial release, improve computer AI further and provide it and other new MP features.  After that, we will begin focusing on v1.1 which will be the first post-release update that is designed specifically to extending game play.

So not only did the patch cause me to lose my 500+ turn game (which still makes no sense), but I'm still getting the OOM errors. Started a new game and within 10 turns it crashed. And I don't have an ATI card. Frustrating.

I think the new weapon damage values are a step in the right direction, but currently the difference between the weapons is too small. Early weapons start with a damage of around 4 and late weapons have only a damage of around 12, but the armors still have the same defense and this makes weapons currently too weak.

The late weapons should have damage values of around 16 and special abilities like ignoring the enemies armor or reducing the enemies Combat Speed and the gildar cost of late weapons is too high (1440 gildar for a lord hammer).

We are very interested in getting as many hardware/OS/driver details from anyone who is still experiencing an OOM issue. We think it is down to a single OS/driver/video card combo (Windows 7, 64-bit, ATI HD48x series with 2010 drivers). We just have to determine what API call is failing to release memory but we want to be certain that we have narrowed it down to a specific reproducible scenario.

Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.

Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz.

4.00 GB RAM.

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250, 1024 MB DDR3 (Driver version 258.96).

Most (if not all) drivers are up to date.

I get the OOM crash occasionally.

Stardock is doing a good job patching the game so far, there was an extremely annoying bug that made the game freeze up during the transition between one round and the next (after the 'end round' button had been pressed to when you can move the units again), with the 1.08 patch the freeze up is far more tolerable than it ever has been - cutting the 10-15 second freeze down to a 1-3 second freeze. Hopefully with a patch or two my game won't transition freeze at all but for now I am fine to put up with it, thanks for the continuous patching and all the hard work.
