[Idea New] Dynasty war!!!!

When the soveriegn dies - there should be a succesor - that person would inherit ALL the power of the soverign (making his essence pool jump!

though! it should take a while - and this is where it gets interesting -

the game could then have a "how well does the family get along" and the children might suddenly start a civil war to try and kill off the one in the first line so that they get all the power.

This could all be settled in a - all the children that are interested -(some might just go - "hey! im for family! i wont join this battle! or im so low in the family i wont bother." while the others all teleport to one field and start dúking it out - with all their power and spells or melee skills until one victor stands and that person inherets all the power of the soverigh - and the game continues

This would be awesome as it would also make the game last longer when you kill off a soveriegn - and even if you die - you still have a small chance to survive - atleast in "essence" as you would resume control of the winner/winner by default

the game could even be expanded with giving each family member reputation / essence control points / titles - by giving your children (cities - in the fact they are the prince of this city - or duke of this city etc etc)  and it all adds up so tha there would be atleast 3 candidates to inherete the power when you die.

this would prevent those that are weak to attempt at claiming the throne - and also give you "some" control over who you would like to be the next vessel of your power.

add to this a random event when children are in the same stack "whoops ...he just got assasinated ...dang" "oh she fell down into a cliff and hit her head repeatedly against a rock"  :D  this would suck! but it would also be AWESOME

Great ideas!  More than a few people have been arguing for changes like yours for a while now.  As currently implemented, children and dynastic politics are largely pointless.  At a minimum, Elemental's dynastic politics should equal 2006's Medieval II: Total War dynastic system, which it currently does not, unfortunately.

I'm hopeful that it will at some point, though.  :pout:

A thought in the subject:

When a sovereign dies, instead of "game over" the kingdom will split between the children (net necessarily an equal division), allowing the player to choose which child he will now control while the rest become NPC kingdoms.

With force or diplomacy, the PC can reunite the kingdom, but it will demand time and effort.

This will allow the game to continue after the main hero dies, but with a big penalty.

To prevent an abuse of wanting only one child for a "smooth" succession, some cities can become neutral with no leader or even completely destroyed when the sovereign dies.

i would say the cities just went neutral  but yes . it would be fun if the children all usurpedpower.

but i liked the idea with the - they all teleport and duke it out :D

though i would even just like that if your soverign died he could jump over into a child and resume control/guide that one - hence making having a big family important!
