Children are sick!

im unsure if it always happens - but your children in the game ! they are badass!

my soveriegns 4 kids all have loads of essence - AND they regenerate! Health and mana!!

these 4 together wipes any army instantly first round - and if they are attacked - nothing short of another spell caster or a bunch of archers has a chance at them.

it is just sick luck that all my soveriengs children have health regen and mana regen or is that standard???

General rule:

Children are as awesome as the loins they spring from, squared.

Yeah, this is normal. Jury's still out on whether it should or shouldn't be.

I think it needs to be a little more random.  1 in 20 kids should be like this.  The rest should be pretty good.

You should get 1 really good kid from every game.  There's a max on children, right?  Like 4 or something?

Hmm.  No.  Every other game.  So a 12.5% chance, assuming 4 kids per game.

The sovereign and his wife can only have 4 children, but those can marry too and have children, and so on. So the number of heroes you can get is technically unlimited.

Has anyone played a game long enough where grandchildren are born, and/or become NPCs?

Most of the games I've played were either over very quickly (smaller maps) or on larger maps they were decided early enough where I didn't bother playing onward (or the slowdowns on my machine made it difficult).

Do games last long enough for it to matter, for other people?  How many turns in are we talking about?

I've had great grandchildren.  I play on large maps.  I dont have much of a slowdown problem, and I don't try to take over that much.  I know with any effort at all, I could steamroll the AI, but I am just building and exploring the game.

Shhhhhh! Don't tell the devs about children getting up to +4 mana per round in combat. Lets keep this our little secret.

What is it about blending the weak humans with supernatural or otherwise powerful beings to make much stronger being? It is in movies, anime and now games.  It seems Badass + Badass << Weakling + Badass.

In about 7 games now, I've yet to have a kid that was any good.  Best I had was one with 5 essence, hehe.

huh .. my first born in my game here had 15 essence- and wooped anything - then her brothers join and now they teleport all over the place constantly killing of everything

I 've finished my first game last night (attempt #6 due to all the OOM and slowdown crashes, I found if I play a small map then I only get OOM crashes that I can reload through)  Anyhow my 3rd child (Son) had 300+ mana at manhood.  I was more than pleasently surprised... happily shocked I guess one could say.  Still thats a bit ridiculous and I was not playing on ridiculous level. ;P

I think the issue is children get their *BASE* essence multiplied by the +essence upgrades you research... 300's are not uncommon apparently.

They probably should actually be 20 or 30, not triple digits! =/

I think that children look so badass because of their ability to regenerate both mana and health in tactical combat. It makes dad/mom look bad. I actually modded my custom and core sovereigns to all have some degree of tactical mana/health regen. After that, children no longer look so overpowered. This affects AI as well so it not really cheating.

So sad when you have to go kill your own kids and grandkids though

You won't believe this, my grandaughter marry my grandson that's because I married all my children to Pariden, so we have mutual grand children LOL

Or worse in my case, I equipped my daughter with the strongest magical armor, intending her to be an escort caster with the stats she had.

But then I married her, not thinking that it will remove her from my army just before I started invading :'(

Daughter with epic gear : RAAaWWR!!!!

In my current game I have 4 daughters, the 'weakest' one has about 90 essence, the strongest has a little over 200.  The firstborn has a bit over 100, and she has 8 moves yet only moves 1 tile in tactical.  Actually, they all move only 1 tile in tactical, yet can attack 3-4 times each.

There's definitely something strange here.

My kids all start with 10 in every stat except essence (which is in the 300+ area), move 6, but can only move 1 square. Mostly mum and dad's special abilities.

That was just before it crashed due to oom (reported in another post).

There's something odd with kids these days....

We've made some changes to the way children's stats are determined for the next update which should result in saner stats.

awesome :)

I did have one kid, maybe grandkid, with over 650 essence one time, about 600 more than anyone else, including other kids.  But yea, they are strange.  Move funny, lame all 10 stats most of the time...

Let's have death at childbirth too. No, really. I can counter all your counterarguments by saying "It has happened in The Song Of Ice And Fire".
