Damaged groups of troops going to 1 after save and load

Hello,

I have a bug where I had to damaged groups of 8 guards that I had in town resting.  I saved the game, and came back and although the graphic shows 8 in the group the hitpoints reflect only one dude.  When I hit next turn the icon and the graphic turn into one guy instead of the my group of 8.  Has anyone else had this issue?

Yes - when we had too little food, and the chaps left me without mentioning it - simply ran away, looking for food elsewhere, I presume. Or maybe they starved in their beds, I didn't check...

How's your food supply?

That's a bug from having recovering squads on a save/load game.

Only work around: Never quit a game when your troops are not top health :s

Which is a problem, because they get a boost when going into a city a lot of the time, so they are often "damaged" right when you want to save.

And they they get reduced to 1 on the reload.

That'd be peachy but my game crashes so much I don't have that level of control.

With the increased resource cost to train quality troops, this ultimately results in a huge loss of resources, because replacing the "lost" units is painful.

We have had several post about this bug (not a "you did not search barb") I think this one needs to be on the "squash me asap" list...

It's why I don't leave home without a mage hero escorting my troops, and in the high traffic mob areas I use my kids as they all have mana/health regen somehow. Use confusion on the stacks that may strike your troops or whom they are going to hit without 1 hit killing and you will never need to worry about it, on the other hand, it's easy enough to just heal the stack if they do take damage from a counter attack.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. That's not the problem. Its a bug and a serious one at that. Especially combined with all the other reloading issues and the current high probability of crashes and thus forced reloads. I has to go soon despite whatever inconvenient workaround may exist out there.

Defending the guys at Stardock is nice (and to some degree they also deserve it).  But a bug is a bug is a bug.

This.

Though one time I had a unit get decimated and level up, so I ended up with a single super solder of sorts.
